Paid Membership: Dues and Structure

I just read this and I will be in. I'll get a check in the mail when I get home, or hopefully a CC payment option gets added when we move servers, and for the record, I think "Plankowner" sounds better than "Charter Member".

Agreed, of course we may have to explain it to the non nautical folks

We'll need the "Keeper Of The Mystical Prod" too then.
If the ship has an inverter "The Keeper Of The Mystical Skillsaw, Sawsall, or Portaband"
If not "The Keeper Of The Handsaw" or The Brothers Of The Bucksaw"
I could go on if some wiseacre intends on using an aluminum plank.

Seems appropriate, especially since a couple of our admins (you two) are former Navy/USMC.

I'm really surprised that not a one of you asked for a Bill of Sale.

And it's unique to CFF it appears. I like that !

It's a pretty ubiquitous term in military circles.

Yep............I should have described it as being unique to the rankings used by gun forums I've been on.

In when the online pay option appears. I can't remember the last time I saw my checkbook

We'll forgive the USMC half... :D

Need to stroke a key and send money, will check to see when this is an option my fine feathered friends.

For all it's faults, Paypal is the quickest and most efficient way, to transfer funds. If Paypal were available, I would have already made my contribution. I'm not being critical of the decision to not use Paypal. Just stating the obvious.

I mentioned up thread, they've canceled accounts of friends right here over firearms transactions, so we're thinking they probably wouldn't cotton to CAROLINA FIREARMS FORUM LLC.

It just makes no sense using them as our default on-line payment option due to their Anti 2A political proclivities, even though I personally use them whenever no other option is available. It would just make a few of us develop a weird tic (another one) to have them advertised as our on-line payment option out on the front page, which I assume is what we'll do.

We have another on-line payment service on the cusp of going live when the vendor comes back to work from the holidays, like today hopefully.

Wonder if you cold DBA it as "Carolina Puppy Outreach" or something innocuous they'd ignore... :D

Paypal uses an email address for the account creation. Create one using an anagram of the nine owners then open a separate bank account with that same name...attach a postal address of any member to it and make transfers from the bank account to CFF's real account electronically. It will give you a another running record of who has paid too....just an idea. Or make it a charity whereby gifts or donations can be given by certain people. Call it The Constitutional Friends Foundation or if you want it boosted by Paypal, call it Children's Freedom Fund.Have a buy line like "Join us in destroying the myth that guns are safe in homes." (Since that's not a myth with proper training, lets let the anti gunners help support us.Winky wink )
Fire with fire doods !

We have an on-line portal coming very soon, like 24-72 hours hopefully.

I bought a lower parts kit from a vendor over there a while back. He asked that I use friend and family to avoid fees. I did, and I wanted to let him know who it was from. In the note area, I wrote, "For LPK on CSC. Geezer". Well, it seems that when you talk in code PayPal gets nervous. They stopped the payment and locked our accounts. When I asked about it, I was told that the acronyms that I used threw a flag and caused a security concern and it was being looked into. They asked for an explanation. Well, sh*t! If I told them it was an LPK for an AR I'd be up the creek. And, if i told them what CSC was, that wouldn't be good either.
So, I explained that I was buying a lower parts kit from a retail place and I inadvertently sent it the wrong way, it should have been to pay for goods. I asked them to release the payment and charge me the fees. They seemed OK with my explanation and said they would release it in 7-10 days. Since my account was re-opened, I just cancelled the transition and mailed the cash.

Methinks the whole issue of using PayPal in the first place is contrary to CFFs stand on gun rights. Using PayPal earns them money which, at best, they will simply not use in support of gun rights causes. And at worse, they'll contribute against gun rights. (My personal opinion is PayPal simply doesn't want to get involved in any controversy or liability associated with firearms.)

Isn't this kind of cousin to what lead to the formation of CFF in the first place? (Except for the fact that it's being discussed beforehand.)

Since there are other options available to us, the whole idea of "pulling the wool over PayPal's eyes" in this matter ought to be laid to rest, in my opinion.

Ok...I'm feelin ya...so bad idea.

+1, check is in mail.

BTW, I think $150 for life membership would be a bit way too generous offer from your side, so I personally consider that the forum will need additional support in future and I am ready to do it, so you can count on me.

Thank you sir, that is much appreciated.

Just thinking out loud . . . 1) Canadian ownership of a North Carolina shooting forum is bad, 2) Should we dispose of our Savage products, that were produced in Canada? :p :p
