Most of us have read that ammo sales are ballooning. I just picked up an order at Outdoor Limited and I’ve never seen anything like it. It should be considered that it’s late Friday afternoon with a warm weekend ahead. Nevertheless, the retail store had 8 or 10 customers wandering around and a vehicle arrived for a pickup every couple minutes while I was there. They say they’re a day or two behind in processing orders because of the increased volume.

Mid South was getting something delivered this morning in small heavy boxes.....maybe I should go see.....lol.

I have far more ammo than I would survive to actually use in a combat environment. So “SHTF” is all set—ie unless it turns out I’m just a natural delta force operator and never knew it, my engagement probability survival scenario does justify me buying more ammo for that.

Justifying my brand new club membership? Well poop, I am tens of thousands of rounds behind going to the range like nothing ever happened if prices/availability ended up like post 2012

I don’t anticipate ammo getting THAT bad, we are preparing for virus, it infiltration of Russia or legislation out of existence.

I have one gun to protect each roll of toilet paper, plus some. Come at me Debbie!

Called Natchez to check on an order I made earlier this week that hadn’t shipped yet. They said they’ve had an unusually high amount of orders and they’re running a couple days behind with shipping.

That 59 lbs you picked up for me was not a panic purchase but I did intend on getting 5000 rounds of 22LR in Aguila Super Extra but it was sold out. On Tuesday they had a butt load of the exact ammo and in two days it was all gone. There is a panic buy happening. It’s happening with food as well. I went to Walmart the last two days and people are loading up on non perishable items. The canned goods isle was in need of restocking. People wiped out the Gatorade and Powerade section.

Anybody wanna trade their S&W 845 for a couple bricks of .22?

Preparing for the move, it looks like I've been panic buying ammo for a long time now.

I'll be happy to provide dry and safe storage of your ammo to alleviate that problem before you move. You can always have a "stash" here when you come back to visit.

I was at the Florence Gun Show today and talking with dealers, 9mm is getting hard to find. That seems to be the only caliber right now or at least to the ones I talked to. The distributors who have ammo are trying to sell pallet loads and not small orders. My buddy who owns the LGS is working with one other dealer to buy a pallet load just so he can get some. Bad thing for shops is it is bulk packed and some are even repacking in zip lock bags of 100 rounds. Not sure why the panic unless it is this stupid virus but I haven't heard of anyone getting sick and shooting up all their ammo.

They are going to start shooting you for your toilet paper and hand sanitizer! That's why they are panic buying ammo.

Until recently, they had plenty of 9mm ball at 16 cents or less. At this moment, they have nothing in stock at less than 22 cents.

It's amazing to discover how much stuff you actually own while packing up to move!
my company paid movers to pack my stuff up. they were authorized to ship guns in a safe, but not ammo.
as an average gun guy, i have loose rounds about everywhere you look. they were making piles of stray ammo that was on every desk, table, window ledge, in every junk drawer, etc...
it was almost like free ammo, with everything they located for me that I had forgotten about.

Hospitals have had to lock up their masks.
we're considering putting our bulk sanitizer, wipes, and toilet paper in a locked office. we have cases of all of it, and expect that we may not for long.

Moving ammo sucks ... per cubic inch it’s some of the heaviest stuff you’ll move. Year before we took a week trip for a fun whistle pig hunt and just taking ammo for just 3 people I actually planned out how to spread the load evenly. Coming back with just empty brass though was way easier :D.

I know of one distributor that went dry today.

Its 2013 all over again
Yeah, this thread has me running the song "The Boys Are Back in Town" through my head.

The .22 LR "shortage" a few years ago should have been a learning experience. Since then, people have had plenty of time to stash back a few rounds of ammo. Ammo has been plentiful and and at reasonable prices. Yet, there will be people that will be caught without ammo on hand. They will be complaining that they can't find ammo or if they can find it, it will be priced higher "than I used to buy it".

There are guys online selling masks that they obviously lifted from somewhere, I see a few on Craigslist, so not even trying to be secret squirrel.

My brother runs a program for the DoD that includes a rather large conference facility, his toilet paper comes by the semi trailer load and it’s usually good for a few months. Just got a truck.

If my memory serves, most large ammo factories are in the hunting caliber stage and shift over to bulk after May.

We will see how long the shortage lasts, at the distribution level

I just ordered 7000 more primers and 5 pounds of powder. That’s only because I am running low and needed to anyways. No panic buying here.

I just ordered 1k each of some 9mm and 5.56 from Outdoor Limited. Now I can go hunting for some toilet paper!

I strongly believe in dollar cost averaging. So I a, pretty much always buying ammo. Now is no different. I have a good supply, but will buy more every week pretty much.

I just ordered 200 rounds of 9mm from Midway, they are getting slim on what they have left. I have a sealed battle pack of 200 223. but I had nothing for the handguns.

Pretty much.

A few years ago, I remember getting calls from some of guys at the FD, back when ARs were fetching $1500+ during the panic..."Know where I can get an AR for around $500-$600?"

"Nope."

"You selling any?"

"Nope...what I have is for my family and I."

For the last 4 years, I've been telling them, multiple times, "Hey...remember a few years back when you were wanting an AR? Well...they are as inexpensive as I have seen them. If you want one, now'd be a good time to jump."

Some of them have listened.

Some haven't and they'll be the same ones calling again, in a panic, if/when there's a price spike.

"Know where I can get a AR for cheap?"

"Nope. You could have listened, but you chose to shell out $60K for a truck, $40K for a boat or $30K for a motorcycle instead of dropping 600 bucks on a rifle. You picked what you thought was important....ain't my problem."

Online they are now 100% sold out of 9mm ball ammo. Only defensive rounds are left.

RMR is out of 9m bullets. All 9mm is backorderd. 45 ACP is on its way to back order status. People are losing their minds. I can't wait to buy all this stuff at a discount when the panic subsides and the credit card bills roll in.

Anyone want to go in on a pallet?

I do not panic buy. I make sure I have enough on hand to get through who ever is in power.

I did ordered 1000 X-treme 45 230 grain plated bullets. Hit my low limit yesterday (250). Was reloading and went to grab what I thought was a full box and it was not. Don't know why I had opened another box without finishing the first one but I did. Should be here by Wed.

Was in showroom Thursday just after noon, seemed to be plenty of stock, and there was activity for pickup, and pickup shelf was loaded....
I did not bulk buy, but some 'sample' lots to test ....
have noted some uptick in pricing here and other places

that had to be a sight on Friday for sure.... and did an on-line search of their website and most ball 9mm OOS.....

Reported there about 1000 orders per day for couple weeks now......... simply woW.
