Never thought I would see traffic jams and people waiting in line at Ace Hardware for... wait for it... disposable eclipse glasses. I'm wondering:
1) Will we see prices skyrocket as the date gets closer?
2) Will we see people listing them on Armslist for "what they paid" after the eclipse?

As we get closer to Monday and once everybody has purchased their glasses, I'm planning to begin offering my own kind of disposable glasses that will be critical to enjoying the show.

I went through my welding supplies and found some #10 and #12 shades - I'm all set.

You need #14 or kiss your retinas goodbye

supply and demand

One of my clients is a rather well known science toy/experiment/curriculum business. They've sold something like 1.5 million sets of the glasses so far.

If someone had the forethought they couldve really racked up on this

1.5m sets of glasses is nuts, Im sure he's thrilled!

Had a lady come in my PT job the other day asking about them, we dont have any. She said that a lot of the welding supply places are sold out of lenses as welding helmets.
Amazon has some that are Prime...but wont ship for 1-2 months
Some people have them, but the shipping rate is INSANE

I'll be 'working' that day, but I hope to go out and see this for a bit

I bought some two weeks ago - $10 for 5 pair. Today they are $40 on Amazon.

I have been looking for two weeks now. I was going out with my son to watch but everywhere I have checked is out.

Heck, I'm gonna stare RIGHT at it, that way I can go blind and collect "my fair share" of disability, welfare, food stamps, Obammer phone, pre-paid housing, Social Security, Medcaid and anything else I can think of between now and then. This is my chance!! Finally, I have arrived!!

Buy bigger targets before you do.

Don't look! It's a trick. It's a giant memory eraser.

I bought a package of 10 four weeks ago for $13 because I don't trust my kids' school to buy the right ones. I have been offered $7/pair for some. I sold them to a buddy for $1.50 a pair because I don't gouge but neither do I make change.

Welders' Goggles or Lens
Welders' goggles or the filters for welder's lens with a rating of 14 or higher are safe to use for looking directly at the Sun.

Warning! Do not attempt to use these filters behind a pair of binoculars or telescope
(that is, between your eyes and the binoculars or telescope).

The magnifying optics of these devices will focus the full power of the Sun onto the welder's filter which could crack and shatter from the intense heat after only a few minutes. If you wish to observe the eclipse with binoculars or a telescope, you must use a specially designed solar filter on the front end (or Sun-side) of the instrument.

WARNING: DO NOT LOOK UP
the NSA is using this for their facial recognition project, they will find you and can
calculate your facial features when you are wearing the protective eclipse glasses.

Not worried at all...

I am going to foil their sinister plot with a clever disguise

Is there anyone else, besides me, that would find it ironically funny if it was cloudy and rainy that day?
Actually, my forecast shows a 30-40% chance of showers. o_O

I bought a back up bottle of booze just in case. I got plenty of liquids, ammo amd peanuts. I'm all set. Unless the internet goes down. Then I am screwed.

One of the traffic advisory signs on Hw 264 today said "Solar Eclipse August 21, 2017 - Plan Ahead." o_O

Glad we got that little tidbit from our state leaders. I wouldn't have had any idea without the nanny state providing that vital piece of information.
