I have always loved hunting, but I don’t think I have ever loved it as much as I have hunting our property. due to personal reasons I had to take almost a decade off and always had to travel to hunt. But walking out your door and getting to hunt your own land has a different feeling, at least to me.
Maybe it’s just this property, my wife’s family has deep roots or it, and getting to plant my kids roots on it and to keep traditions alive that started with my great grandfather just brings it full circle for me.
We have found a ton of old things on the farm, the oldest is a stoned up spring head that from family/local history dates back before the civil war, and a stone dam that dates back just as far.
Getting to hunt this land with my two sons and daughter, is a feeling that is hard to describe. I guess sitting in the woods this morning with my oldest gave me enough time to get into a reflecting state and has made me really appreciate the memories we are making.
