Hard to find information on 'em... made 1963 - 1972. Can't wait to refinish the stock!

Nice find! Some folks should not be allowed to touch screw drivers.
Love the photo props also.
That bumper looks mighty clean though.

These Japanese screws require a special narrow blade, and the slots are shallow. But Bubba musta got mad at it.

I haven't figured out how to get the wood off'n it, yet.

The butt stock will be held in place by a through bolt and the forearm will pop right off if attacked from the front.
Please don't go all Bubba on a refinish, gentle and easy slow is the key.....

Butt stock screw is at the rear of the trigger guard. Forearm pops off as you said.

Don't worry, I am purty good at it.

Well, I got the buttstock off... had to remove the floor plate of the receiver, with the trigger and lower tang, so it's all in pieces now. Looks good inside. Now I need some narrow, wide screwdrivers so I can get the fitting off the foreend and start stripping the wood.

I did not say where I got it... but it was Riverside Pawn on Randleman St. in Greensboro. They do not generally have anything I'd be interested in... but ya never know.

The one around the corner, Bob's Pawn, has more interesting inventory.

I helped my dad take the rust off his 1950's Winchester ?? 20ga. I was 8 and he had this sand paper that was red with really good sanding bumps. Luckily my dad just laughed.

I like the minimalist approach of rubbed linseed oil, after chemical stripper using fine steel wool. The old finish and dirt are gone, while the character marks and color of the wood remain with a beautiful oiled look, as though it's been sitting in a quiet place for years. Sometimes, they end up looking like they have never been refinished.

Ok, here it is after several applications of stripper with 00 steel wool, and one coat of linseed oil. The stripper got the old finish off, but apparently this old shotty was heavily oiled, and it came out dark. Looks fine by me, and the end result is just what I hoped for!

Just found out that the Western Field Model 328 made by Miroku is a copy of the Browning BSS (Browning Side by Side).
I figured that may be the case when I saw it was made in Miroku Japan. Awesome find.
