BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCBD) -The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office released video from the shooting inside Big Buck’s Pawn Shop on College Park Road in Ladson.

If you’re reading this story on the mobile app, click here to view the video.

Deputies say a man entered the store just after 4 p.m. and asked to see an AR-15 rifle. While inspecting the weapon, he took out a loaded magazine he had in his pocket and inserted it into the gun. He then began shooting into the store and at two employees. A store employee returned fire from his own gun as the suspect fled the store.

Continued Link Above.

Cannot believe an employee didn't smoke that fool while he was standing there that long without a round in the chamber.

They should have shot him before he got the rifle loaded.
Sounds like a good reason to leave the action closed when on display. Gives the store owner another second or two to respond.
Action open? Just pop in the mag and release the bolt. Looks like that is what he did.
Guy sounds a little nuts but he had good weapon and trigger discipline :D
Probably former military.

Agreed. He shouldn't have made it that far.

I couldn't see from the video. But if the action was open, then he only had to release the bolt to chamber.
Looked like he pulled the charging handle back as he was heading down that first aisle?

What's the first you should do? Open chamber and look to see if it's loaded. Having a closed chamber won't help anything.

Having it locked locked will. Then if you need to unlock it for the customer your attention will be 100% on them.

As soon as his hand slapped the bottom of that mag he should have been staring down the barrel of the clerks gun. You can see the clerk's hand pointing at him and talking to the guy after he loaded the mag. The clerk should not have been pointing at him with an empty hand.

Once employee shows clear to customer, insert chamber flag and then close action, hand to customer.
Should buy a few seconds for employee to draw and prevent in store shooting.

There was a lot of talking going on, presumably he was trying to talk the guy out of it? Or maybe just delaying him hoping the other employee would notice and get into position?

There were several chances he could have pulled on the guy, but I don't know if the clerk would have been fast enough to beat the guy. The other clerk appeared like she didn't even see what was going on. I also don't think the clerk realized that the crap had got real.

This happened to Carolina Sporting Arms in Charlotte a couple of years ago.

I'm wondering what it was that he put in his front pocket, part of the motion that takes his hand to the magazine in his back pocket. That could have ended so very badly!

Zip ties will solve these problems. Too many libtards out there in this day and age. Looks like a Bernie supporter to me.

I think I would have tried to draw on him. It wasn't loaded yet, and I would have bet he retreated when he saw me draw.

Goes to show, which I think the guy was needing more draw practice. Might have been why he didn't till the end.
I don know, speculation.

A minute and ten seconds between inserting the mag and ripping one into the chamber. He'd done that before, somewhere. He didn't check it; knew from the sound and the feel it was right

Was thinking the same thing, almost looked like he removed something from the top of the gun.

Crazy stuff, glad those two werent hurt

By the time they realize that he is up to something, it's almost too late for them to do anything.

He zigged and zagged and out the door he went. Best place for him, outside. If they tried to engage at that point, he has a rifle with a full mag, not good odds.
Everyone is alive to fight the morons in the gun shop another day.

For those who say they would have drawn on the guy...

Maybe, maybe not.

Watching the video, this guy CAREFULLY staged the whole event. Notice his stopping his actions, looking around, and actively talking (ie - engaging people and distracting them). This was all part of his staging act. In the 3 to 4 seconds it took him to pull the magazine out and insert it into the gun, very likely the person behind the counter was NOT observing, for whatever reason. In fact, if you watch the video from the side angle at 2:09 or so, you'll see the guy just putting the magazine in...and the man behind the counter was looking DOWN and not at the man with the rifle. (Notice the lady on the phone, probably calling 911.)

After that, the guy already has a loaded weapon at the ready. You ain't winning that race by attempting to draw on him.

He also spends 70 more seconds talking. About what? Dunno. But it's obvious he's in full control.

At this point, all you can really hope for is the guy leaves without shooting someone. Maybe you'll get a chance to draw, maybe not. But until an opening happens, he's got you. Dead. To. Rights.

I was hoping to woman was going to come back out of the store room blazing with a shotgun. :D

Yeah I thought the lady was going to be more "helpful" to the counter man by at least calling 9-1-1.

She was too busy adjusting her wedgie.

I don't think all you Quicks' draws would have reacted the way you thing you would. Human nature in these circumstances is to disbelieve that it's really happening.
