Ripped from foxnews story.
Depression era recipe Reddit goes crazy over peanut butter bread.
Ingredients:

2 cups of all-purpose flour
1/4 cup of sugar
4 teaspoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 1/3 cups of milk
1/2 cup of peanut butter

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F
Mix dry ingredients together
Mix in milk, then add peanut butter
Pour mixture into greased loaf pan
Bake about 1 hour

I liked it, it’s not a sweet bread and the peanut butter taste is subtle. It’s fantastic hot with butter, or marmalade or strawberry jam. On the next batch I’m going to add chocolate chips and bananas.

If this is a depression era recipe, was natural peanut butter used? Or did you use the processed kind?

Grade A, gut rot processed jiffy :D

HAH!

I love processed peanut butter, if only because I NEVER have to deal with the oil separating.

But it might be worth trying natural peanut butter with this recipe.

When I get home I'll have to try it. I'm pretty sure my wife has some natural peanut butter somewhere, if only because I won't eat it if we have anything else!

It'll be a while. With this lockdown, and not traveling back home for a while.

I work in VA, but home is SC. And we live next door wife's parents, who are in their 80s and no longer in the best of health.

Going home and placing them at risk isn't an option...they're the only parents I have left.

But I'll let you know!
