Pellet gun for backyard farting around

I got the Diana 34 in today. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Pros:
-The blued finish is nicely done, on par with some of my rifles that cost much more.
-Overall build quality feels solid and well put together.
-Stock isn't showy, but it feels good and is well finished.
-Trigger is actually very good. I wouldn't say it's Larue MBT good, but it isn't too far off. I can tell it needs some break in.
-According to the chrono sheet from the seller, it will hit the advertised 1000fps with 7.3gr pellets. I'll do some of my own chrono work soon.
-Did some shooting at about 15 yards in my house. Crappy light and hard to see, still managed several ten shot quarter sized groups from a sitting position. Already seeing some pellet preferences.
-A little louder than a staple gun. Kinda depends on the environment. Mostly spring noise I think.

Cons:
-Plastic....I knew the trigger guard was plastic but did not realize the rear sight was plastic. It seems well made, for being freaking plastic, but it's still freaking plastic. Front sight blade is plastic too. Rear cap thing and safety are also plastic. It doesn't ruin the rifle, but plastic on something with deep blueing and wood seems wrong. In my opinion, iron sights should be as sturdy as anything on the gun and well....maybe be made of some sort of material that contains iron. I get it...$$$....

Subjective:
-Fiber optic sights. Pretty thick and very bright. I like the sight picture, just not on this gun. I would prefer finer sights without the FO. Sights are one of my nitpicks so it's probably mostly me but still.

Correction... Rear sight is actually metal. It's def MIM or cast and because of the sprue lines and such I assumed plastic. I did a little scratch test and it is metal. So, that makes me happy. Front blade is indeed plastic.

I have a Diana pellet rifle that my dad brought back from Germany. It's at my brother's in Virginia right now. Dad traded a Hershey bar to a starving German for the rifle. Dan was in the 1st Infantry when they liberated the concentration camps.

The rifle has a wooden stock, it doesn't look like walnut so I'm not sure what it is. I remember it has a 2 stage trigger and would shoot hard and straight. I need to get it and bring it back down here.

Should have an Airgun only day at BO sometime.....

Pretty darn consistent I'd say.

For those interested, most pellets were around 14.5FPE. Low was the Heavys coming in around 13FPE. High was the Superdome at around 15.5FPE. It matters little to me, but data are fun.
