YES that was honestly the whole point of putting this together. I wanted it to be a match first, but secondly a chance for everyone to get together and drool over the ol' milsurps.

I still don't know what I'm shooting. Likely my garand unless my buddy wants to use it, in which case I'll probably shoot my m1 carbine. My other dear friend is borrowing my 1903. He's dressing up in period costume from the Banana wars :)

I'll be dressing up as a WAVE. My great aunt was one so it has some historical meaning to me too.

Kelly?

We shot togehter @ Clinton last week.

Yes sir!! What's up!! Bring something old and come join the fun :)

By "bring something old", I'm going to just go ahead and assume you don't mean "me". If I can get a few shots in with the Garand between now and then, I'll be there!

LOL. Bring two old things then. One living and one not. ;)

I picked up a couple of boxes of wolf. About half the rounds keyholed. The groups were also around 8moa. The rifle was a jjco Lithgow with a practically new barrel. On the same day, it consistently grouped 3in with hxp. I haven't tried it in another rifle yet.

I've shot about 100 rounds. No keyholing in my No4. The one group I shot was a bit north of 5". Fine for most of this match, but I'll probably switch to reloads for the 200 yard stage.

It actually feeds more reliably than Prvi brass in that rifle, too.

Coming up this Saturday. You'd think there would be more chit chat.

Loaded enough enbloc clips for Saturday.
All I need to do is load the cases in the car that morning.
Can't wait!
I have gotten to more than one match to find the ammo, or worse the guns, did not come with me:rolleyes:. I also loaded enbloc clips over the weekend.

Count me in for loading up too :) I'm trying to get my bayo to fit my garand, it's a repro and it won't seat all the way. I'm pumped for Saturday, trying to take care of the last minute things!

was dearly hoping to sign-up and shoot this weekend, but those hopes have now been dashed...

The new job has decreed an overtime shift for Friday, which means i'd be getting out of work at 6:30am sat morning. so no joy for me :(

hope this event is successful and is held again, because I really wanted to shoot this!!

good luck everyone.

What a fun match! Beseventeen and 2alpha-down0 thanks for your hard work! I absolutely can't wait for the next one.

Just a heads-up: The match scores on Practiscore.com at this time need to be resubmitted and are not final. Division winners have not changed.

Thanks to all the RO's, Kelly, Dan and everyone at PHA that made this a great event.
Really fun match that also worked in some history in each stage.

Looking forward to this becoming a regular event.

The vintage match was rediculously fun today. Thanks Kelly, Dan and the RO crew for making it happen. Can’t wait for next year, plenty of time to get a vintage uniform and pistol together.

Someone was taking pictures all day, are thise getting posted somewhere? Also is there any way to get in a mailing list for the next one?

Thank you so much to everyone who came out. For an inaugural match we were very happy with the turnout. Things ran very smoothly and we got some ideas of what we can make better for next time too!

We have pics up on Facebook, it's a public page so you should be able to see them; https://www.facebook.com/pg/vintage2gun/photos/?tab=album&album_id=487964128268712

I will maintain the FB page, so the best bet about being notified for next year would be to "like" it, and then you will get updates. I will be glad to do a mailing list too though if anyone wants to PM me their email.

It really warmed my heart to see so many beautiful old rifles out there, and so many people kicking some serious butt with them. Garands definitely were the most popular choice but we a lot of nice bolt actions, and handling Jeremy's 1941 Johnson Rifle seriously made my day. It was just so cool to see something vintage every where you turn. Whenever I use something old at a multi gun it is always the only old thing there and I get stares. Yesterday no one even looked twice!! :)

Not to toot my own horn, but I was proud of myself for not breaking an ankle running around in heels all day, lol.

Great pic!
I was going to use it but after hearing that recovering my brass might be an issue I opted to shoot some old 1956 corrosive yugo berdan primed ammo that I wouldn't miss the brass. Turns out this ammo has deep set primers that the BAR didn't like at all. The M1941 didn't have any trouble with them while I was testing..so I used it instead... ended up having three FTF in the Johnson during the match anyways so that hurt me too.

Might shoot it next year unless I go German or Japanese... hehe...

I think a T38 carbine might be fun to run thru it..

That's a great pic of the Johnson in action!

What did you guys think of the open squadding vs. normal squadding like you'd have at other matches? that was the first time we tried that there.

-Kelly

Just my view, but the open squad system was the weak point of the match. But, how are you going to know if something could work if you don't try it out? Y'all did a great job with this match's organization.
