Where can one get a photo taken for submission with our paperwork? Or can the missus take a snap of me with a plain background & just have Walgreens or some such print a handful of 2x2s?

I've got some fingerprint cards enroute from BATFE. Can I assume the Sheriff's office will do the prints?

Thanks in advance.

Do it all yourself. Seriously. Much less hassle.

1. Fingerprints - you can get an inkless fingerprint pad off Amazon for ~$7 (I have instructions on how to fill out the cards in the sticky if you need it)
2. Photos - you can just take a pic, doesn’t even have to be a plain white background, and edit it to 2x2; if you have a smartphone or tablet and want the no brainer option, download passport photo booth app - it’ll help you line up the proper area and automatically do 2x2 prints, and you can choose 6 per 4x6

You don’t even have to have the photos done on photo paper. They don’t even have to be in color. You can print them at home on plain paper and tape them on. Or the slickest way to do it is use Adobe to put your pic right on the form of you’re printing paper forms. (If using EForms, you upload the pic)

BTW...don’t hesitate to ask questions, whether posted here or PM. Heck, I’ll give you my cell number if you’d prefer to talk/text. I helped Butter roll his own for his FFL application and they were approved no problem. The only time you have to use LEO to do it is for an Explosives license.

Photograph and Fingerprints. An individual maker (including any Federally licensed collector who is an individual but not any other type of Federal firearms licensee) must (1) attach to each copy except for the CLEO copy in item 12 of the ATF Form 1, a 2 inch x 2 inch photograph of his/her frontal view taken within one year prior to the date of the application and (2) submit two properly completed FBI Forms FD-258 (Fingerprint Card with blue lines) with application. The fingerprints must be clear for accurate classification and taken by someone properly equipped to take them.

Two points:
1. Notice it doesn’t say passport photo; at some point I think it may have said “passport style” photo, but it simply wants a 2x2 recent photo.

To prove you don’t need a plain background, here’s what my most recent one looks like:

That’s how Scott @ THSF is set up. MAGA hat for everybody. :D

2. The only requirement for FP cards is “properly equipped”...no certification/qualification/etc. You can properly equip yourself with an ink pad. Add a card holder if you want, but I bought two and have ever felt the need to use them.

(I’ve since figured out how to create the photo stamp in Adobe, so any forms I do myself will have a pic printed directly onto the paper...no way it comes loose using that method)

I thought you had to have a LEO fringerprint you?

Only for explosives. I’ve printed myself multiple times for NFA, and even printed one of the guys here for his FFL. And I’m just a regular Joe Schmo in the eyes of the ATF.

Only have to be “properly equipped” per the regulations. Evidently blank (free) cards and a $7 ink pad cover that requirement. ;)

Matter of fact, I filled out two more for me last night for a couple EForms I’m about to file.
