"The real problem was being able to stick it out, to sit in an office under the orders of a wee man in a dark gray suit and look out of the window and recall the bush country, the waving palms, the smell of sweat and cordite, the grunts of the men hauling jeeps over the river crossings, the copper-tasting fears just before the attack, and the wild, cruel joy of being alive afterward. To remember, and then go back to the ledgers and the commuter train, that was impossible. He knew he would eat his heart out if it ever came to that."

- "The Dogs of War" by Frederick Forsyth

Great pics, all, I really like the Limeys. Some of my favorite times were with the Royal Marines. Hell raisers, and great fighters.

I wish I could get copies of those manuals. I can't tell what the first one is but I see "The Fighter", "When You Get Home", and "Venereal Diseases"

Wow. Bet those are interesting

@nooneimportant Thanks!!

I wonder what the "when you get home" one contains. Time to google !

Edit: found the Red Cross one online. Had information like what to do and where to file if you're wounded, deadlines and all that for insurance, helping the Red Cross/continuing to serve etc

I like old literature like that. My grandmother has some ancient readers digests in this big collection and it's such a window to the past

Keep em coming, this is really awesome
