...baby turtles.

Seriously, this little slider was on my front door mat today. We have a pond about 1/3 mile away, and a stream about as far in the other direction. Still, not used to seeing this type of turtle in my yard. We occasionally get box turtles, but not sliders. This must have hatched within the last couple days. Hand delivered him to the pond's edge. Good turtle habitat.


 
Found one in the driveway a few years back about the same size (will need to check my old phone, I THINK I took a pic of it beside of a quarter and it was about the same size). Popped it in the pond. Wish I'd have kept it, have a few other sliders already.

Gee, all I got at my door this week was some little useful idiot from a local college that wanted me to donate money to save the Earth. It didn't work out as he had planned. Little f&*%.
 
We found one about the same size, size of a quarter, on my son's birthday two years ago. Brought it home, have it in an aquarium, he's going strong.
 
I had one as a pet years ago. When I got it, it was about the size of a quarter and when I got rid of it it was the size of a dessert plate. I had to give it to a facility that could better care for it then what I could in my current situation. It was a fun pet though and I understand now they are illegal to keep as pets
 
Found one of those in a largemouth bass stomach once.
 
We had 3 of those guys living in our pond last year. Haven't seen them this year, but that last hurricane flooded the pond and likely washed them and all the fish into our neighbors' driveway.

I saw about 15-20 turtles in my pond the last couple days. It must be a good time of year to be a turtle.
