308 Tikka, some bench precision and hunting is the use of the gun. 20" or so barrel.

It's a bolt action, so no way to go full auto. Was looking at the Gemtech tracker but if it has to cool after 10 rounds, that cuts down on the PR side, but fine for hunting.

I was initially looking at about$800 with stamp, as a rough budget. I won't pass on a $650 can (+200 for stamp) if it's a better can for me.

I've read some on the Omega and AAC 7.62SD but I don't know much about them.

What would you be looking at for this? Will buy from a vendor here, even if it means some travel time.

Silencerco Harvester 30. I’ve got under $800 in it. I bought it from Scott at Tarheel state firearms.

Would be glad to talk to you about cans. $800 with stamp is a tight budget. Most quality rifle cans start higher than that before the stamp. I do have a couple of silencerco cans that I am trying to move that are good cans and would be in your price range. They are SilencerCo Specwars. Give me a call if you want to chat or set up a demo.

I have an AAC 762-SD and really really (really) do not like it. It is heavy, long, screws with accuracy and requires a finicky 51t mount. It now resides solely on my 300BLK SBR - the only rifle I got it to shoot accurately with.

I replaced that can with an Omega from @TARHEELSTATE and couldn't be happier. It's lighter and shorter, has repeatable accuracy, several very easy to swap mounting options and is quiet. I am bouncing it between a couple ARs, an AR10 .308, my Ruger GSR hunting rifle and my precision Savage 6.5 Creedmoor. I couldn't be happier.

I'm not ready to buy just yet, just getting everything lined up so I have the monies in order for the purchase (more on the planning stages now).

I do know there are some really nice cans out there for a lot of money.

Taking budget out of it, where do you recommend I look? Omega? Thunderbeast? Other options I am probably overlooking?

It's a fun gun, so no matches or anything like that, at least not yet. Wanting to keep the full rifle build about$2500, with gun, glass, can, and small stuff like bipod and sling

I have a SICO Omega from Scott and I can echo extreme happiness with it. Light, short and quiet. It rotates between an 18 inch MK12, 10.5 inch MK18 (both with 5.56 endcamp) and a 20 inch 308 bolt gun. It's one of the best do it all cans. You'll blow your budget by 200 or so bucks, but be much happier in the long run.

When you say hunting, does that mean stalking and walking?

If yes, look closely at weight and length.
Nothing worse than a muzzle heavy rifle in the brush.

I have a TBAC 30 cal that works extremely well, but it's a boat anchor (and it is full titanium).
I think the Silencerco harvester might be the ticket.

Mostly stand hunting, but there will still be the walk in and out. I know with a PR style scope and can I will be adding weight, which is a trade off I am willing to make for a dual purpose gun.

I've heard both of those about the TBAC, and have looked at the Harvester as well.

I own an Omega, Scott at TSF is great to deal with.
It came with the ASR flash hider and threaded end cap.

I’m trying to decide on my next can also. Either an Obsidian 9 or a 30 cal dedicated can like those mentioned.

Going with a SpecWar from Shawn, I want to get out there but I cant until after Christmas (dang workin for the man!)

On the plus side, it does give me some time to get the prints and pictures all set too.

Then the waiting game......

Specwar is an awfully heavy can, but very quiet.

Omega is a great option.

NFA is not something to necessarily cheap-out on. Sometimes a "deal" isn't worth it.

I understand completely, and I agree. I am sacrificing the weight for the quiet, but suppressors are something I want to get a few of, and in some places where this can shines it will have a place in the rotation as I add more.

Along the list of wants are a suppressed 30 30, this rifle that will ultimately be able to go on it's own as a precision rifle only, and getting another hunting rifle with a small can, like the treker as a dedicated can for the gun. I have heard really good things about the Omega as well.

Then, pistols lol.

SiCo Hybrid for all?

I have the SpecWar. I enjoy how quiet it is, but it is YUUUGE!

If I was just bench shooting, then I think it would be a great choice for suppression. Mine is on a hunting rig. It's so long (that's NOT what she said) that I sold my 10.5" 300blk upper and bought a 8.5" upper just to reduce the overall length.

I'm not worried about it being nose heavy or heavy, period, because it is slung while walking to the stand/blind, then it either sits in the corner or across my lap.
