Checked off a big item from the top of my "Need/Want/Just Gotta Have" list on my lunch break today and plan to haul it out to the range tomorrow. Some of you can probably guess what it is from a few of my recent posts and PMs. Here's another clue...

Hope to have a few more pics and details in the next day or two. Stay tuned :D

They feed easy unless you are speaking in dollar value. Open the lid. dump in ammo close lid and wind up. Insert in firearm of choice and have fun.

Easy to feed. Expensive to feed. A hoot to shoot.

After quite a search, I finally lucked out and secured a new AES-10B in a private sale. Holy hell this thing's a blast. Took it out to ENC Firing Range near Goldsboro - my first trip there - and spent a fun afternoon. No complaints at all, although the guys wouldn't let me shoot their gongs because they claimed my Wolf ammo was steel core. I tried to explain the difference between steel core and bimetal jacket ... no dice. They stood by their magnet trick as proof . How range owners don't understand this is beyond me, but whatever. Next time I go, I'll bring a pulled and cut bullet to show them and (hopefully) change their minds.

Anyway. the gun is awesome. 1973-dated trunnion and everything runs smoothly and locks up tight - even the bipod. Windage and elevation were dead-on out of the box and needed no adjustment. This RPK shoots a hair more accurately than most of my AKs. I scored about 3-4" groups with irons at 100 yards depending on the ammo, and hit bowling pins nearly 100-percent of the time at the same distance. Put on a POSP-1 scope and shrank the groups by about an inch (even managed to shoot two 1" groups with three rounds apiece). Quite impressive for what it is. My plans now are to refinish the wood with a nice amber shellac and that's about it. This thing was absolutely worth the wait.

Thanks! It's a beast though, especially with that loaded drum. No runnin' and gunnin' here.

Forgot to add ... wore my CFF tee to the range, but wasn't asked about it by anyone. Comfy shirt though.
