Pine Knoll Shores surf fishing

Headed to Pine Knoll for some extended family time. I like the peace of casting and standing in the ocean at the shore. Usually don’t catch anything, usually use a Carolina rig with shrimp and/or squid.

Anything biting in the surf right now, and on what?

My cousin that lives in Swansboro has been doing well on the surf for pompano with some others mixed in. He was using standard 2 hook rig and fish bites for bait.
