All Google seems to want to show is concealed carry classes. Are there any reputable teachers within about an hour of columbia? I'm looking to get more proficient with my concealed handgun.

Interested, panteo doesn't seem to be doing much lately, I've driven up to NC for a few Apex Classes this year and definitely plan to take more.

Would be nice to find a similar outfit here in the SC midlands.

Sandhills Shooting Sports has some but I have no idea as to the quality/reputation of the instructors.

You have the Sawmill up near Laurens, might be a bit more than you're looking for, same thing with Threat Management in Bowman. Triple canopy is some where around here. There a guy down in Walterboro doing training as well. I've met several people/students from these places, they are the real deal, might be a bit more than you are after. They cater to Law Enforcement, Military, Gov. Special Ops kinda people. They do offer some one on one training as well. You can check with Palmetto Gun Club near Summerville, while they are a membership club, their classes are open to the general public.

South Carolina Gun School is in Easley SC. It’s a bit farther than you may like but I’ve trained with Chris multiple times, Rifle/Pistol 101 and 201s. My shooting improved drastically, and he’s incredibly fair on the prices. I will be taking his advanced courses in 2023 when he puts his new calendar up. I highly recommend his courses!

These guys host national level instructors several times per year. Looks like the 2023 calendar is not posted yet. Nice facility.

Ive been following those guys on Fb for a while, they were having a full course and appeared to stay busy, then just fell off the earth. I was very interested in taking some of their classes, but they appeared to have closed up shop, then about a year later, I noticed they were back up and running in limited use

Yep! I noticed the same. Tim Elmer seemed to be the main contact for visiting instructors and apparently he left.

I’ve got a buddy who’s a Sumter PD Captain and runs his own classes.

Is that within an hour?

Oh, I forgot. This is the new "Panteao Sportsmans Club" website. Fernando just recently sold the shooting club portion. Looks like plenty of classes available.

@Cole_McD and I met Jay Harris (Champion Defense) at Pantaeo one afternoon. NRA Instructor, prior service, fellow Ranger, and seems like a really "squared away" guy. I think it would be worth a shot to check out his offerings and give him a shout and maybe take an "appropriate" class with him to benchmark. For sure he does defensive pistol and rifle.

The Sawmill has training? They're only 7 miles from my SC place.
One of my retirement plans is to get serious about handgun training. Only thing I've had was a carbine course several years ago.
