I need a "main handgun" again.... Mine was a Glock 17 but it got converted into a race gun. ATM I use my shield for just about everything but want another full size.

I'm leaning to the G19 because it's a Glock, and it will take the G17 mags I already have ( have about 10).

But I'm not against other pistols. So what would you recommend? Needs to be double stack, 9mm, and dependable. Max budget $600

There's plenty out there, but given prior familiarity with Glocks and compatibility of mags and holsters, I think this is the strongest choice.
a 19 can use everything he had for his 17. Holsters in a pinch, mag pouches, mags...

It's good to branch out from your comfort zone. You'll find some really nice, quality guns that way. If you stay pigeonholed, it's always just the same ol, same ol

AIM has G3 trade in 17s for $360ish?
Or 19.
I don't even like Glocks, but they're fairly cheap, parts are cheap, and they work.

A Glock certainly makes sense given the gear you currently have for one.
However, if you ever find yourself coming towards Shelby, NC give me a shout and you can be my guest at my range and try out anything in my collection, especially the CZs if you've never handled one.

Just get the g19 everything you need and nothing you don't.

I tried the whole different brands different actions. And it sucked. Go glock and don't look back

Not to take this thread off track, but if you could only own one CZ in 9mm, which would it be? As an alternative to a G19.

For me, it would be a P-01.
Reasons are:
-I prefer decockers on my da/sa guns vs manual safeties
-They are uber-reliable
-They conceal well (comparable in size to the G19)
-The alloy frames soak up a bunch of the recoil impulse, making it a soft shooter while not being too heavy for edc
-The full size 75's/SP-01's are a touch too big for my hands while the 75 compact series feels like the were molded for me and me alone lol
-They are very accurate. Very.
-They accept full size 75 series factory and aftermarket mags
-The accessory rail gives me the option for a light if I choose to
-Did I mention they were uber-reliable?

Just my $.02

Is SA only available?

why gen4 over gen3? just curious i've had both.
Specifically I like the larger/longer mag release.

Edit: Oh, and back straps. I use them.

Being a notoriously terrible operator of handguns, I am going to recommend to the OP that he stay with Grocks, because changing to these CZ's requires learning to like carrying a 1911, which I have, or a Sig Sauer with all this DA/SA BS.

Balderdash, I say.
Carry your ugly Block, as I do, proudly, as with an ugly girlfriend in the daylight, and sally forth.

Grab one with a safety!

Another vote for the 19. I have both glock and CZ, only downside to the CZ is mag price/availability locally. $50 factory mags for a P-09 mag that I can't find around town sucks. I personally like to have at least 4 mags for a carry gun to stash in various places JIC. With the CZ that's an additional $200! Don't get me wrong the gun is sweeeeeet, but don't think it would be my carry piece.
