That's it. I'm not answering my phone anymore. If someone I don't know needs to get in contact with me be prepared to leave a message. Two calls just today so far have been automated and not relevant to any one/thing I do business with.

I need to change my message to reflect this. But, first I need to calm down a bit...

You can set your cell phone not to take calls that aren't in your contact list. The callers can still leave voicemail if it's a legit call.

I could tell you about the two days that some telemarketer spoofed my number as the return number for their calls if that would make you feel better.
I had 100 angry calls a day of people telling me not to bother them again.

If you have Spectrum they have a feature called NO ROBO. It's free and the phone will ring and then stop. I'm assuming then they get a message that you are not taking calls. It has cut my ROBO calls almost to nothing.

I don't get that many, but I get several a week saying, "I just missed a call from this number" or similar. Ain't me dialing. Technology improving lives.

I've not seen that one yet. Need a name, please...

The other apps rely on a DB. That DB is bad as the numbers are spoofed.

It's a feature on iPhones in the do not disturb folder.
I'm sure other makes have a similar feature.

Ah, Apple = "let me do it for you and I'll keep all your secrets"???

Except to sell the info for undisclosed profit...

I have all but eliminated mine by answering and immediately hanging up as though the call didn't go through. If it's someone truly trying to reach me they usually call back immediately. I used to get 8 to 10 a week and this has cut them down to maybe 1 or 2 per week. Give it a try....

Download an app called "Hiya", It runs caller ID on all incoming calls. if its someone not in your contacts list, or someone not verified, it will allow the phone to ring once, then end the call, and send back a text message telling them to text you back.

If you get spam calls, you can flag and block the number, and it will alert other Hiya users if they get a call from the same number. The number of robo spam calls I've been getting has been steadily dropping as more and more spam numbers get flagged.

And on a side note: The NRA has recently been guilty of using spoofed numbers for their donation calls. I've been getting a lot of 919 and 910 numbers that turn out to be the NRA. I block those too.

I have had 3 of the robo calls in the last 1.5 hrs on the home phone.

And knowing Spinctrum, they'll charge you $9.50 a month for that after the first year...

I've noticed a significant uptick in the amount of robo calls I've been getting over the last month or so. It was like a switch got flipped. I can't remember if you have to renew your number on the National Do Not Call Registry. I tried to check but .gov has it shut down currently.

LOL, So far I've had it over a year and no charge for it yet. But I wouldn't doubt they would be thinking about it.
