So we some how now have what I think is a clogged vent stack in our house..toilet wont flush, and its super hard to plunge, and when doing plunging Im getting gurgling in the sink..run the sink and I get a gurgling toilet..fawk!
So now being Friday night, and the fact that my in laws are showing up tomorrow for dinner tomorrow I gotta some how find a damn plumber available for weekend service calls..and pay weekend rates..bahhh!

That all said, anyone know of a decent plumber with reasonable rates who serves Wilkes county?

I "spliced" in a Studor vent under a sink when I had a vent issue like that.

Got a studor vent under kitchen sink already...

Septic was pumped 6mo ago too..bathroom on other side of house (seperate vent) works fine.

Can you get on the roof to where the vent is?
Is there anything blocking it you can see?
Can you take a large heavy nut on a string and lower it down the stack? Stack should be straight.

Yeah...i dont do ladders and roofs so well any more.. back side if the house where the vent stack is located is also the walk out side, e.g. higher up than my clumsy ass is willing to go. Lol.

If the sink and toilet are plugged, you have a blockage beyond them and further down the line.
A snake of suitable length will b needed to un clog it.
Unless you can block off the sink drain, overflow hole and sink vent pipe... Then you could plunge the toilet and get it to slam the blockage.
I've had my share of plumbing issues and do a lot of it at work for 6,000 nerds throughout 12 buildings... They do suck.

Good luck.

I think if the toilet is on another branch from the kitchen sink it needs a vent of its own. If the vent is plugged there's no place to draw air from when the water flows down the pipe.

Yea seems odd, but guest bath and kitchen are on same vent, and kitch also has studor vent. Can run kitchen faucet and get the air/gurgle from toilet.

Sink good, tooilet not so much..pretty sure its vent blockage...makes me wonder if the squirrel I shot this morning said " revenge is mine!", and crawled in pipe and died. Heheh

Don't go on your roof without fall protection. I say this because I didn't have a chance to say it to my wife's brother, who fell off his roof and will be in a wheelchair the rest of his life as a result.

Its a mystery...checked baffroom today, and no issues... maybe the heavy rain we had pushed down a blockage ? No clue, but as if now dont need a plumber..knock on wood it keeps on working!

Dude, think about it.......... how much rain do you think a 2" pipe could collect during a downpour??? Plumbing problems don't just go away by themselves...

Maybe a kid's paper wad, or a laid brick finally slid down the pipe.
I used to work in a hotel. The maintenance manager once told the story of how the upper floor drain (sewer) line got plugged up. The line was steel pipe that bolted together in flanged sections. So he popped out a few of the ceiling tiles below and with a very large bucket underneath, proceeded to unbolt part of the line. He discovered that what had stopped up the line was some lady's tampon that swelled up and created a blockage. I guess it must have been a super sized one.

I had a coworker who built a new house. The drunk plumber knocked the toilet flange down into the line when he was trying to remove it. That resulted in sewage backing up and coming down through the kitchen ceiling.

Well, Trump did hold out his hands and proclaim that he didn't have size issues. Guess that says something about Daniels, too.

If this weren't the open forums I would tell the joke where the Dr says something about standing outside to perform the exam.
