I’ve talked with quite a few concerned citizens today so let me clear something up.

I’ve taken 3 public oaths, one in the US Army and Two as a police officer. All of them included upholding and defending the Constitution of the United States of America.

The second amendment says the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

As long as I am Chief of Police, no Republic Police Officer will infringe on a citizens right to keep and Bear Arms, PERIOD! - Chief Culp

In an interview with KXLY, Culp added, “We took an oath to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States and the constitution of the State of Washington, and [I-1639] completely flies in the face of both the U.S. and state constitution.”

We need more like him, and he will probably catch some backlash.

But I mean really, there isn't much there that he gonna to be able to enforce anyways. Now that is said without reading the bill itself.

He would have my support.

Sheriff's say this stuff all the time. But it's fairly ballsy to hear a Police Chief say it, he can be fired for upholding the strict letter of the law that ultimately deny's socialist demands. They don't like it when you fight back.

Kudo's.

I-1639, the newest initiative, include gun storage requirements that portend felony charges for gun owners if their firearms are accessed by unauthorized persons or stolen.

If your home is broken into and firearms are stolen, these Washington idiots make you the felon.

Good on the chief for saying but I dont see how he will be stopping universal background checks, prevent gun safety courses and selling to 18 yr olds

Hopefully the courts will destroy this stupidity, but Bill Gates money is plenty and still growing

Snippet:

REPUBLIC, Wash. — A city in Eastern Washington is considering becoming a "sanctuary city" to shield itself from gun laws after its police chief says he won't allow his department to enforce the regulations passed by voters under Initiative 1639, saying the new gun laws violate the Second Amendment.

Initiative 1639 raises the age limit to buy some weapons from 18 to 21 and opens a gateway to prosecute people who sell guns to customers who can't legally own them. It also requires guns to be safely stored at home.

He has to know his job is at risk. This looks to me like grabbing free political capital / laying the groundwork for a campaign. WA needs him.

Yeah, me too. I'm sure the guy is just grandstanding. You know that all cops will do whatever the crown tells them to when it comes down to the nitty gritty.
IIRC, Police Chiefs are appointed. Sheriffs are elected by the people and as a whole seem to be more responsive to this relationship.

Which is why I said it. Maybe there are several things he wouldn't enforce and it's not being headlined.

I think everyone has a line in the sand. Hopefully more people in positions like this will see that there is no pot of gold for them on the other side when they pander to the marxists. There is no common ground save for a few things here; prison reform, war on drugs, stuff like that...but when it comes down to freedom and liberty, they want nothing but to ensalve. It's time the political right stops pussyfooting around. There is no room for anyone toeing the line anymore.
No.
That was me making a poor attempt to point out that if He were really so “pro 2A” there would be several other things that he wouldn’t enforce.
