i have casted and used the powder coating method, but was thinking of trying the polymer coating. Has anyone used that method? What's the process compared to powder coating? Cost?

Be more specific. Many powder coat material is Polymer. Are you referring to a specific product like Hi-Tek, or something else?

Are you talking about the Hi-Tek coatings like on Bayou bullets? I have not personally done this but understand it to be close in time due to having to coat and bake the bullets twice to get them thoroughly coated, but a bit less tedious in the handling of the actual bullets as you can shake to coat and dump out to bake vs having to be a bit more careful powder coating them.

If you want to get a PhD in coating lead bullets check out castboolits.gunloads.com, they have an entire subforum dedicated just to bullet coatings and techniques.

Talking like The Blue Bullets. How are those coated.

I believe the blue bullets are powder coated, but I can't say for sure. They definitely are not hi-tek coated and the only other way to coat I know of is powder coating. They are the only coated bullet I've ever used that leave powder residue on my fingers as I load them.

That being said I haven't loaded any blue bullets in a couple years or more, they may have changed their coating for all I know.
