Looking for ways to pimp my 45 shield and saw that the performance center models have ported barrels. I saw the work @ncengravers.com does and thought it might be something to look into.

Are there benefits to it on such a small gun or is it more for looks. I'm blocked at work from doing much research. Oddly this site is not blocked. lol

thanks

Ported barrel on a carry gun sounds like a terrible idea to me. I want all fire/boolits & anything else flying away from me. No telling what position I will need to not die in.
For a game gun, it may reduce muzzle rise but puts you in a division where additional mods are allowed, so actual disadvantage.

Lastly, will the fireworks hurt your night vision? Big flash at night when zombies are attacking....not good.

Shot my brother in laws .40 Shield PC and it definite helps that gun with hot loads. The fireworks don't seem to affect the sights because the ports are at 10 and 2 oclock

We try to stay away from barrel porting because we can’t guarantee accuracy once they have been ported.

I was assuming he’d buy the ported barrel and need you to do the slide work...maybe I missed it.

My .40 is ported at 10 and 2 also. At night it looks like a top fuel dragster leaving the tree...

Lol, My bad, not barrel but the slide like the picture in @ncengravers.com avatar. The octagons. I misread the google descriptions as I can't get to the S&W website. Just changed my title from ported barrels to ported slide

We offer lots of different services. The www.ncengravers.com webpage is growing all the time with new services being listed. Pretty much anything you see in my instagram, YouTube and Facebook is available and in most cases it’s not listed on the webpage.

You probably won't notice any change from slide ports. Other than looks.

The Shield slide has so little area it is hard to imagine removing enough mass to change feel or function. Less mass should cycle flatter though, perceptible or not. Worse case you'll have to change recoil springs and maybe a little more lint collects.
