Post-41F NFA Stamp Tracking thread

well form 4 check cashed today - 1 week from sending till cashed - though I'm sure that means less than nothing.
It means something. It means that the Form wasn't lost between you and BofA in GA.

It doesn't mean the ATF has any idea you even submitted one, though. :D

At least it made it that far
Yep. In about 6 weeks, call the NFA main number and make sure it's in the system. The pending date they give you will most likely be the check cashed date...even though it won't hit their system for weeks.

Then, you just have to wait it out. Best medicine is to go ahead and file a form once a month. That way there's a steady stream of approvals once the first one comes...so the wait doesn't seem as long. :D

Well I do need to get on that other SBR form...after that no clue what I need - Dead Air confirmed my Ghost-M will be fine with the PS90 so that takes on purchase out.

First NFA filing

Form 1 individual via SilencerShop
Submitted online 3/28/2018
Check cashed 5/1/2018
Date approved 7/27/2018
Date received 8/03/2108
Form 1 is for what firearm?

AR lower for SBR? DIY silencer? Cutting down a shotgun?

These will be fun (or at least interesting) to watch:

1. Sent two F4s today directly to WV. Attempting to void two that were approved to me as an individual (but not transferred via 4473), move the payment over to new F4s to me as a trust. Spoke with one of the people up there that gave me the OK to send it directly to him and he said "within 30 days" he should have them done. We'll see.

2. Sent two F4s to the normal GA address today. Did my own pics and prints. Transferring from myself to a trust on which I'm the only RP. So, if I screwed up it doesn't matter. But, I also added a post-it to say these were approved <2 weeks ago, and the sole RP is the same individual that the BG check was done on, so maybe they could just use that NTN and skip the wait? :D

April 4th 2018 and May 5th 2018 approved form 4's were mixed in with others today from Jan 2018.
Pretty crazy how irregular the timing is when there are persons waiting that submitted forms from the end of 2017.

Are you seeing early January 2018s coming in, or just scattered through the month?

I'm still waiting on a 10/17 submission, as well as two 1/18 apps.

Have a 1/18 (really probably a 2/18 because so late in January) and a 3/18 submission. I see a fast one and think mine should be soon. So it gives me hope lol.

Form 1 was approved 8/8. I can build the SBR legally now! I never bought the barrel just to not have any temptation to put it together lol.

Now just need the Form 4 to come through.

I had four from mid-late Jan approved about a month ago. There are definitely plenty of '18 forms coming in, although there are lots of '17 remaining.

Figured the least I could do is post a pic.

We probably have 40 or so pending form 4's submitted before Jan 1 2018 that have not returned approved yet. Any of them that customers or we have called on to check status, it is always the same answer, "waiting on back ground check to clear" .

I'm pending from 17 with you and they have never told me anything other than pending. Never said anything about background check so far

Probably depends on which person answers the phone up there.

I've spoken with 3 people since submission. One lady was nice but wasearly in the process just to confirm receipt of forms. The most recent lady and guy sounded like they hated life but didn't deviate from "pending" even when directly asked about the background check. I last called a month ago.

Copied from a FB group..

I have a question. Has anyone had their NFA forms returned because FBI status came back open? I have had my first 5 go though with no problems. Then all of the sudden i have gotten 9 back all in the last month denied because FBI status is open? WTH? They say I have to resubmit all of them. Some of them are almost 2 years old. I have all my letters back, but it's funny I have yet to receive a refund check. Nothing has changed on my background check. What really sucks is have an ISR that I paid for 2 years ago and now I have to start over on it.
Here is what the letter said:
"Your NF A application has been disapproved by A TF based on the FBI repo1iing a final status of "open" on the required background check after 88 days and have not received information back on the final disposition of potentially prohibiting information. One avenue to receive
information relative to information in one's background, the FBI can provide individuals with an Identity History Summary-often referred to as a criminal history record or a "rap sheet"-
listing ce1iain information taken from fingerprint submissions kept by the FBI and related to
arrests and, in some instances, federal employment, naturalization, or military service. The FBI offers a method for requesting a copy of your Identity History Summary or proof that one does not exist. Your NTN is see attached . For additional information regarding the FBI's identity history summary check, please visit the website below: "

Call the FBI- When you're told "we can't answer that" ask for a Supervisor. Keep at it till you get your answer.

Infuriating to be sure, but it's the same when dealing with any large, inefficient uncaring bureaucracy.

Call to Congressman or woman? May help get it fixed and expedited?

Someone said the FBI is getting sued over this. People are saying that the FBI has 5 days to give you a reason for denial or unreasonable delay of NFA and NICS checks and not only are they not doing that but also not responding to appeals.

It's my understanding that this is what is going on with all the people stuck in FBI background check purgatory.

I know I've mentioned it (and probably posted a link) before, but there's a decent thread on ARF with a lot of discussion around this. Including info from one of the lawyers, and links to documents that have been filed.
