There will be just the two of us for Christmas so we are having a pared down feast.

Chateaubriand with sauce bernaise, roasted brussells sprouts with warm bacon dressing, Hasselback potatoes with caviar and truffle salt, cookies, coffee and brandy.

The older kids will visit either Sat. or New Years' Day. I will prepare the traditional New Year ham, greens and Hoppin' John.

Wife and kids are out of town to Yankee land this week, so steak and potatoes for me every night.

Oh yes.... and then build up strength for 25 day aged prime rib on New Years Eve! :D

I love a Chateaubriand. It is one of my go to dinner party dishes. I love to bring nicely trimmed tenderloin to the table prior to carving to show the goods and then serve it with a lovely sauce and sides!

There was a butcher in Danville, VA I used to go to who if you got there early on a Fri they had a the tail end of a tenderloin and would sell it for cheap. It made the perfect Chateaubriand for two.

I slow cooked a pork loin while I was at work and made some packet mash because my red baby spuds went bad. Delicious and I shared with the mutt so she's happy.

A salad and Bailey's.

( It's been a rough couple weeks! LoL.)

I didn’t take pictures but the wife was cooking lasagna and I was cleaning out the Traeger grill. And I thought. Hmm I need to cook something. So appetizers it is. I wrapped pineapple with bacon and coated with brown sugar. About two hours on the smoker. Mmmmm damn good

today we are making burnt ends. Will post up a picture of them.

Wife cooked as good a Prime Rib as she’s ever made. Lumpy mashed potatoes (we all like the lumps) with gravy, Brussels Sprouts and asparagus. Our daughter made me fresh Pot Stickers, something I’m just crazy about. Homemade coconut cake for dessert. :D

A family adjacent person spent their hard earned money on a meal for my family from Whole Foods. Prime Rib, Brisket, fingerling potatoes, cream spinach, brussel sprouts, corn pudding. Worst prime rib I ever tried to eat and the cream spinach was vomit. Everything else was good including a chocolate yule log from Fresh Market. I dont know how you FU meat that badly. I would have taken the left over prime rib back for a refund. Pretty sure it was horse meat.
