Post Your Furry Friends...

Wife and son are back in school these days, and so I’m home in the peace and quiet. Although, I’m beginning to think my wife asked the furry one to keep an eye on me. :D

Well, Elsa the Dutch Shepherd is 13 months old. The first picture is her watching over my daughter at the park. Every time anyone came near my daughter, Elsa would let out a barely audible growl. She never lets the kid out of her sight.

Beautiful rare girl! I have only seen two in person ... both females. Their eyes ... while not quite Maligator level ... show the wheels turning. I’m sure you’ve been approached by other Dutchie owners for pedigree information and to try and build back their bloodline sine they are so few still.

Yes, she is always trying to figure things out. She is insanely smart and crazy fast. But her best attribute is the protectiveness she shows over my wife and daughter. The breeder we got her from has three bloodlines of Dutchie’s and breeds some true working dogs.

She is now 55-60 pounds +/-, and 23” tall at the shoulders, so slightly smaller than most malinois, but she makes up for it with sheer charisma.

The Malis are great dogs (I’m guessing your Elsa has some of that but a little lesser hyperdrive) ... we kept one for good friends to go on their honeymoon because she could not be boarded due to behavioral issues. They brought her over every weekend for a month so she would get use to us and lessen her separation anxiety when they actually left her with us. My son was 13 or 14 and she took to him easy which made it easier. Now my 2 Labs on the other hand almost died from exhaustion from trying to “impress her” and lost about 10 lbs that week ... they ran crazy Sun up to Sun down. But when Mommy and Daddy came back she sat in front of them and I swear “talked” (not barking but mouthing type sounds) to them until the loaded up to leave ... and would not let them out of her sight ... a little toooooo much for my taste but every so often they bring her to visit and we’ll keep her for a weekend. I just don’t want a dog smarter than me and with the drive she has ... I’m toooooooo lazy.

It’s a good day to lay on the couch after church and lunch, reading a book in jammie pants!! And the princess decided to join me...

The wife and I have had a rough time with family critters here lately for sure.

Pickles is 6 months now, just had her fixed and dew claws removed. Just 65# and a real sweetheart too.

But we need a Miniature Norwegian Chihuahua to keep her in line.

Be a few more weeks til we get him...
