More ramblings of a blithering idiot....

Currently have a 5.56 AR pistol in my bedroom for home defense. Has the tactical light and a pistol brace and a set of electronic ear muffs hanging on it so I don’t deafen myself if anything ever happens to go bump in the night.
*however*
I got a chance to shoot a .300blk saint with a silencerco can and can see (hear) the major difference between shooting that and a friends form 1’d (I think) wish . com can. He did it the proper way, I’m just not sure if I’m remembering the details correctly.
That kinda ignited a interest in converting my rifle to .300BLK and not have to worry about murdering my ears if I don’t put the earmuffs on in great haste for bump in the night type situations.
I’ll do the research on my own as far as converting my 5.56 AR to .300BLK but I’m more curious with the Covid stuff, what’s the easiest way to go with filing for a suppressor? I am assuming the wait time is still a couple months if they are even accepting current applications. Other questions include, would a AR pistol still be covered under my CCW if it’s a NFA item? (Or has a NFA item attached to it?) And anything weird I’d need to know about home defense with a NFA item? Lastly, any recommendations on a can? I see some new ones that don’t appear to gas your face according to their ads.
Appreciate not being burned at the stake. I’ve been out of the loop for ~6 months and I don’t know if anything major has changed.
