I’ve had a leaking hose in my power steering system for awhile, but it’s now bad enough I need to replace it. It’s the one that runs from the bottom of the reservoir to the cooler in the grill of my ‘03 Ram.

Pretty straightforward replacement. Two clamps and some fluid containment.

Is there any reason to get the exact hose from the dealer? Or do parts stores carry replacements? Or simply go to NAPA/etc and buy a piece that’s the correct size & length?

Is it crimped on the ends or just has a type of constriction clamp? If the latter I’d go to Napa and get one to fit and skip dealership. But I’m not a mechanic lol

Pretty sure it’s just clamped in place. I think I had a similar issue before, but can’t remember what I did. The clamp on one end looks original and the other might’ve been something I bought separately.

Not like a high pressure fitted hose. Just slipped over the nipple on each end and clamped in place.

I think we looked at that while we were doing the control arms. I'd just buy a piece of hose and clamps ..... T clamps for the best clamping imo

Unless it has specific bend in it. Hose from your local napa is fine

Sounds like the return line back to the pump, use transmission line hose.
I replaced the p/s hose and the transmission cooler line hose on my '99 Taurus wagon,
I have a crimp tool for CV boot clamps, works well with 1/2" crimp rings that are common
for plumbing applications. Check Rock Auto to see what is available for that truck.

I believe they call it p/s reservoir hose at most parts houses. No need for dealer/exact fit, as long as there's nothing dumb like a molded bend or different size ends.
