Our neighbor passed away last night in the hospital peacefully at 96. My wife had sort of adopted her in the 11 years we've lived across the street and is taking it pretty hard.

Their family is gathering in a few minutes to head to their family home across the street and tell her husband of over 70 years that she is gone. He's the oldest living Marine in my county. Y'all offer up a prayer for him this morning because he is going to be one sad old man.

He's got them, Ash. More than he'll need.

There is a ~90yo Marine across the street from us. His health has been in decline since we've known him and I worry more about him every day.

Thoughts and prayers.

Prayers sent and thanks for giving us this opportunity.

From one old Army vet to one old Marine, prayers for you and your family. Thank him for his service, and hers as well! It takes a team to get through some things and his wife was a part of that. God bless them both!

There's a part of me that thinks it would be a kindness to hope that they are not long separated.

Please don't misunderstand and think I want anything to happen to him, but when two people have been together for 70 years that is a powerful hard blow to be separated. Many people that age find that they can't bear to be apart.

I hope he takes it well.

Prayers for you and the task you have to do and prayers for him for comfort and strength.

I was over to see Joe yesterday along with my wife and take food to feed all the family that was there. They treat us like family. Turns out Joe had not just one, but two abscessed teeth that started giving him trouble the week his wife got pneumonia 10 days ago. He never said anything about it till the day after she died. He's getting them out at noon today.

I also meant to say I hope your wife is doing ok with this. I know if she is anything like mine, she always finds someone elderly to look after and when they pass on she always grieves at home in private.

So I pray she has peace as well.

Just now came across this thread. He has our thoughts and prayers.
