Prayer request

Matthew 18:19
“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”

Update: We found out Monday that Elaine is scheduled for surgery next Wednesday.

We met with the geneticist today. It's scary how many of her family have had cancer.

But....all but one has survived. The geneticist told her that she must have some good cancer fighting genes.

She's ready for the surgery. She just wants the stuff gone!

Thanks for all the prayers up to now. She really appreciates them!

Great to hear that encouraging news Don. Prayers for a successful surgery and total recovery sir. Please share this with Elaine.

We'll keep Elaine in our thoughts and prayers Don. That is good (awesome actually) news from the geneticist.

May the Lord bless with complete healing! Be strong and courageous, for the Lord is with you.

Surgery is at 2:00 pm on Wednesday.

Elaine said to tell y'all that she is at peace with the surgery and that she knows it's from all the prayers that she's getting.
Be sure to keep us up to date on Elaine, Don.

Great news Don. Thanks for the update and wishing for a complete recovery.

That is great news Don. Tell Elaine we're all still praying for speedy and trouble-free recovery.

She came out of surgery about 45 minutes ago. Dr. said she did great! He said the lymph nodes still look clear to his eye.

She's in recovery now. They are going to keep her overnight and probably let her come home tomorrow.

Praise Jesus!!

WTH?? Have I been in some time warp on another planet??
Don, I swear this is the first I've seen this. I'm glad all the prayers helped and she's doing good now. I'll go ahead and send another one ya'll's way so you'll have a little reserve.

I'm at the hospital now. They're going to let her come home around noon. She says the pain is NOTHING to what she had when she fell about a month ago.

She said her doctor asked her this morning if she wanted to go home today or stay a week. She said "Well since I haven't seen the Spa yet...."

Feisty, she is!

We had a pretty good day today. She's been laying around taking it easy while I play nurse. I was able to run some errands this afternoon and again tonight so that's good.

She's got two drain . tubes in place with funky little plastic suction bulbs which we have to drain periodically. There is still drainage but it's slowing down.

And...........she's home.

Already bitching about the home care nurse.....
I would too!
Dadgum socialized health care got me this crappy murse who smells like something he calls hoppes number 9 whatever the hell that is.

Best of luck. Thoughts and prayers.

I can't "like" this enough! :D

We've had a couple of good days. Elaine's not having to take the pain meds as often and the drainage from the surgery, while still there, is much less than when she came home. And my cousins, the Barker clan, sent over some Brunswick Stew last night!! That really hit the spot!

We met with the oncologist this morning. Didn't get the news we were hoping for, but it isn't as bad as it could be.

Based on the analysis of the tissue removed she has Stage IIIB cancer. Stage III because the lab decided that it was one big tumor rather than the two we'd been told before and that made it a 6 cm tumor. Anything over 5 cm is Stage III. It's B because there are signs that the cancer cells were trying to involve the skin around the tumor.

However, the three lymph nodes they removed were clear and there was no sign of cancer in the periphery of the tissue removed. Both of those are very good things!

The oncologist is going to have another test run and we should get the results in a week to 10 days. Based on those results we may be looking at chemo and/or radiation. Or we may not, it all depends. He does want to have some CT scans done of her body to make sure that the cancer hasn't spread and they just haven't picked it up.

I will make one comment here; Elaine's breast had been "bothering" her for about 6 months. She is very reluctant to go to the doctor. I'm not saying that it would have made any difference if she had gone sooner.......but I'm not saying that it wouldn't have either. If you have a loved one who is experiencing pain or discomfort for no known reason, GET THEM TO THE DOCTOR! It can't hurt and it might help.

Wow, Don...Ive been dealing with my own troubles and complety missed this.
Thank goodness for partially good news in a terrible situation...and here's to praying for even more good news.
You and Elaine are definitely in my prayers.

Wise words. People don't like going to the doctor but I'd rather go once than a 100 times for waiting too long. Glad to hear your wife is doing well recovering. We'll all keep praying for her

We'll keep ya'll in our prayers and thanks for the great care you are providing to her.

We saw the surgeon this morning. He's happy with the way the incision looks! Elaine is not happy that he didn't remove the drain tubes but he did give her (me really) the criteria to be met before he will remove them. He's thinking another week or two.

And the oncologist has started scheduling the CT scan and the bone scan.

If she needs to talk to someone who went thru the cancer journey we can work that out. I hope she has a good sense of humor....she's gonna need it! I'd like to help if she needs to vent or whatever.

I remember the drains...not pleasant...

@Millie, she has a great sense of humor. That's a very kind gesture on your part.
