I have mentioned in previous posts that my father broke his back riding a horse a few years ago and is now in a wheel chair. He does as well as can be expected but spinal cord injuries come with a whole host of lingering health problems (infections/sores/high or low BP). Yesterday he went to the hospital because his BP kept crashing. I was not told about this until this morning when he called to cancel our dinner plans. What he didn't tell me was he managed to get his foot stuck in his power chair (was unsure if foot was broken---thankfully it wasn't). A lot of the BP issues would go away if he used the power chair (it rotates etc allowing prssure to correct) but he prefers his manual chair.

What I am struggling with is that my parents with call about the smallest things when I am at work like a damn chicken getting out of the coop and expect me to drop what I am doing and deal with it but will not call when it is serious. I love my folks and would do anything in the world for them but it is getting to the point I want to pull my hair out. I would appreciate any advice/counsel/prayers on how to deal with the situation. I get that don't want to worry me but in all honesty having to leave work to chase a chicken or catch my moms dog is harder on me than dealing with a real problem due to the irratation factor. My dad was allways very independant and it is important for him to be in control of things/life as much as he can but damn it is getting hard to keep fixing problems that could have been avoided if he had just listened. Sorry if post is disjointed/rambling.

Prayer sent. That is a burden to bear, don't try to do it alone.

Prayers sent! My Dad is hard headed as well. At 80, he gets his ladder out and cleans his gutters on a 16 foot high roof!
