I went to visit a radiation oncologist yesterday. I had prostate cancer surgery in October of 16. All has been well and good until earlier this month, my PSA was now detectable, my urologist ordered another test 2 weeks later. Unfortunately it to was elevated. So he sends me to see this doctor on Friday, even though my level is still really low. Without a prostate, there is only one reason it can rise. She tells me that radiation therapy is needed. She feels really good that my chances of completely clearing this up are good. I want to start pretty quickly. To say I am worried is an understatement. I will be 46 in April. My faith in God is strong, and I know I am not supposed to worry or have anxiety. I ask him multiple times a day to calm my thoughts and fears. I have a wonderful wife of 22 years and a 12 y/o son who is my everything. If you don't mind myself and my family could use some prayers.

Prayers for all and wishing for a successful treatment plan my friend.

Lifting you up In our prayers!

Prayers sent

Saint Peregrine, ora pro nobis.

With you, OP: I was 48 when diagnosed and underwent a prostatectomy (and had lost my father to it some years prior).

Prayers for God's healing to be upon you. I'm a cancer survivor, going on 29 years now. If you ever need to talk PM me.

Prayers for you all man. What were your first signs of prostrate issues? I think it's some information we could all stand to learn if you don't mind.

Deep breath!

Keeping a positive mental attitude is as important for your kids and wife as much as yourself.

Many here have survived multiple occurrences of this crappy disease. You will also!

For me, round 1 was 2006, last February round 2. Without surgery and chemo this will go easier on the body. Radiation is rough on the skin sometimes, but better than it used to be.

I was fearful too, if you're not you're not human! Be brave for those you love but share your thoughts with your wife, she deserves that.

Good luck, you'll be fine. God will help you.

PM if you need anything! I live just south of you.

Mine was found during a routine physical at the fire department. Our department hires a group to come into the station and do a very thorough fit for duty physical. Normal age for routine PSA testing without a family history or high risk category is 50. High risk or family history age drops to 40, he puts all of us in the high risk category. I was having no physical signs of anything going on. Guys get your PSA tested!!!!! Early detection is very key.

My neighbor has been through this, same sort of thing....comes back, no prostate, levels are elevated.... hes been doing this dance for 5 years, and it always goes back to normal. Lets hope this is the sme sortof thing. WE are all here for you, remeber that. Never hesitate to ask.

You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers, I'm going thru the same ordeal, hang in there.

Dad was diagnosed with it at 50. He'll be 74 this year.

His prostate was removed, but the cancer came back. He had 40 "doses" of radiation, but it came back. He currently receives some sort of cocktail injection, but it comes back.

I don't have a point, just a story. But I will say, I bet you're going to be around a long while. When my Dad starts going on about his, I tell him if he will just hang on a couple more years, the suit I bought to wear to his funeral will be back in style.

Stay positive sir. You will beat this. It’s normal to worry for yourself and your family. I look forward to hearing about your complete recovery. I have said a prayer for you this morning.
