Hey all, I have been looking for ways to securely mount my press to my bench but still have the ability to remove the press & powder measurer since I have limited work space.
I tried mounting the press to a section of plywood and then clamping the plywood to the bench, it worked ok but it was actually a pain to find a place to put the press attached to the hunk of plywood when it wasn't in use, well I was looking around the web and found the Lee bench plate, its a mounting device to allows you to attach the press to a plate, then you slide the plate with the press attached to a mounting bracket that you attach to the bench.... it was a step the right direction but I would still have to permanently mount something to the bench.
I ran across a video of a guy that used a system he created to secure his presses and it lead me to a solution that works for me.
I found these at Lowes.
I used the Lee bench plate mounting holes as a template and drilled the 4 holes through the bench top, I then put these through the bottom of the bench top and used a bolt with washers on it to draw the teeth up into the bottom of the bench and then mounted the Lee bench plate mounting system to the bench with 5/8 threaded clamp handles, so now I have a quick and easy way to mount and remove my press and powder measurer without having to lose so much bench space!
All secured and it is rock solid to boot!
