Is the advanced micro dot worth the extra coin over the others? Are there any other sights I should consider in the under $200 range?

I have one of the PA micro dots. Have been thinking about getting one of the advance ones. Alot of people like the holo sun optics. They are around $200 for the base ones.

I have always had good luck with the PA microdots, so you wont be wasting money. That said, I got to use a Holosun last weekend, the one with the optional secondary circle thing and it was awesome. So it is about in that range and I think worth a solid look.

PA or Holosun are a great option, and I've never had an issue with them. That said, I'd take a look at the vortex AR sparc. Those come with a lifetime no questions asked warranty. You can get them on PSA with 10 PMAGS for $200.

I have been looking hard at those too. I am not a weight weenie but they are quite heavy for their size though.

They aren't that much different, are they? I think the sparc shows a higher weight because the riser mount is integrated.

3.9 oz for the PA vs 7.5 oz for the Vortex. So in the grand scheme of things I guess 3.4 oz is not a deal breaker. The 10 mags is sweet too.

Right - but doesn't the vortex weight include the mount vs without the mount on the primary arms? I would think that is where the extra weight is coming from.

Ahhh...good point.

I had a few PA's. Decent, but tinted glass and didn't love it. Had two that wouldn't zero. They replaced under warranty.

Got a Holosun recently and had low expectations, but it is mucho better in every way. I think it is a 510 A maybe? Just a dot with 50G battery. Really impressed and got it for 126$!

All that said my PA purchases were from several years ago and from what I understand they have gotten better, and I have no experienced with the advanced model.

@hlpressley is the man to talk to about Holosun.

The new PA advanced Micro's are definitely heavier than their older versions. But they also feel better made.

I picked up one of the Blemished ones during BF and was surprised by the weight difference.

I have 2 micro dots, love them, would buy again.
They never get turned off when put in the safe, just turned down a couple notches. Never have they lost zero, no other issues

That was a good deal.
Slapped one on my M92's Ultimak rail, didn't get it real hot that'll be the real test for mine I suppose, it seems like a decent optic. Does have a little bit of blue tint, no worse than my Viper RDS, neither are very noticeable to me unless looking for it against a white background.

I like Primary Arms micro dots, but I love the Holosun dots. They have more features for the same or less money. Holosun can’t be beat for the money.

FWIW, Holosun manufactures PA red dots.

I may just save up a few more bucks and get one of those HS510C.

No experience with their micro dot, though I do have one waiting to go on either a really nice, wood-stocked Marlin 795 or a Henry .41Mag carbine.

I have had one of their (apparently discontinued) 30mm Aimpoint clones for a few years. It survived & thrived on my .45-70 Guide Gun (& to which, it is soon returning) & has been very accurate & consistent on my 10.5" .300blk SBR.

I've got one on a 10/22 and it seems to work fine. My only complaint is the dot isn't very crisp if you are trying to shoot small groups. Really more of a squiggley shape than a dot. I'll probably take it off the 22lr at some point and put it on a more defensive rifle. My Aimpoint dot is much more defined and clear. I may just trade or sell mine and get a fixed 4x scope instead.

I ended up ordering a Sig Romeo 5. The reviews and torture tests I've seen on this little optic make it look very promising. The warranty Sig offers is darn good too.

I paid $147.50 for the Romeo 5.
Oh, where at? So I'm guessing not necessarily worth the $195, lol.

Although this deal is looking fairly tempting!

If you like the ACSS reticle the holosun hs503g is the ticket. They are around $200.

Are the Sigs made by Holosun as well?

And for sure they aren't selling counterfeits? Ebay has burned me too many times. :(
Yes. Supposedly the Sigs are made by Holosun.
I can't see someone going through the trouble of counterfeiting a sub $200 optic.

Not sure if I'm going to keep the Romeo 5. I see a reflection on the upper left portion of the glass in certain situations that is bothering me. It is even more pronounced outdoors. I hate it because everything else about it seems pretty great. I tried to get a pic of it but my camera just won't capture it.
