So I got this thing out to the range over the weekend decided it put it on the PTR to try it out.

First things first, the build quality is great, I cannot see or find any machine or cast defects. The caps come off and go on smooth and the bits of cable that attach them to the optic while slightly annoying are a great feature on an optic at this price point. The included base is well made and locks down nicely, the fact the optic uses the now industry standard Aimpoint micro footprint is just icing.
The glass is great, I tried to take a picture but my phones camera does not do it justice, its clear and has little to no distortion around the edge.

Now to the bad. The reticle design is trash in this optic. While the ACSS reticle might work well in higher power/variable optics where the thick ring is used at 1x and the smaller chevron is used at higher power on a fixed power 1x optic the chevron is way to small. According to the manual its supposed to be zeroed to the tip of the chevron at 50/200 yards and the center point of the bottom two points be used for 400 yards. By my estimate the chevron at its widest point is no more than 2moa. To make matters worse the ranging marks are immediately below the reticle. Why even include these on a 1x? If the bottom of the tiny ass chevron is 400 yards what point is there in ranging as there is no further marks for any ranges passed 400. Just aim for the top of what ever it is you want to hit and fire.

In conclusion it is a well made optic brought down by a bad choice in reticle, and the above is just my opinion, if you like the ACSS reticle you will probably like this thing just fine.
Big thanks to @charliesgrave for selling it to me. It will probably stay on the PTR until I get a LPVO for it.

The Bullet Drop Compensation and Range Estimation are useless with such a small reticle, but I use mine more like a red dot so it still works for me.

I also like the etched reticle in case the battery goes dead.

The Bushnell Lil P I just got seems to be a bit more useful than the Cyclops in this regard. The reticle is a lot bigger and etched as well.

For some reason, the designers at PA don't seem to do any dynamic shooting, and fall in love with lots if circles and arrows?

It's as if the reticles are designed by some dude that has a basic drafting template and can't wait to use it. Then tests everything off a bench. I find their reticles to be cluttered and gimicky. Same with that spin off company. Maybe it would be useful on fixed 4x or something like that?
But I don't even like them on a 1-4 or 1-6. Less is often more. Just my opinion.

This would be a considerably nicer optic if it had a simple two dots and ring like an eotech. One for 50/200 and one for 400 with the bottom of the ring 7 yards. Vortex does it as well with the UH-1.

I still can't get over the ranging marks. Why? Its a 1x optic with BDC out to 400. 99.9% of use will be under that range. If you are shooting at a mansize target simply put the tip of the chevron at the head and fire. If the target is under 400 you will hit them. The the ranging bit does is add unnecessary clutter. If they took that out and turned the horseshoe into a circle and made it about 30% thinner it would be so much better.
