PSA ak47 gen 2

Check out the AK Operators Union on YouTube. They do a 5000 round torture test on most of the popular AK platforms on the market. The PSA gen 2 passed with flying colors as did the PSA AR15 Freedom rifle. Others do not do so well.

I'm still giving it a thumbs down after what I've read from others. The consensus is Rob's rifle was a wee bit nicer than the rest. Plenty of issues with them. I can't justify $700 on an unproven rifle vs. warfactory combloc stuff for the same price or a smidge more.

I say buy American unless it's an AK. The commie stuff will always be better but among the American made aks I think the psa is as good as you can get. I shake my head when I see what wasr's are going for these days. Hopefully the ak bubble will burst soon like the ar bubble did. When I bought my first ar and ak the ar was $800 and the ak was $400, now it's the other way around.

Build kits start at 379.00 with stock, trigger, ect for 99.00 to 179.00 for a kit to finish it off.....I like some of the reviews but like all things I need to buy one and try it and see.....everybody trashed a moores machine company ar and I put through hades and back still shoots good....

You mean an N-Pap. What else is in stock for $699 and free shipping?

Arsenal has the SLR107-11P for a bit more but it's never in stock.

There's a lot of discussion going on about how PSA may have purposely lied/misled customers about these new kits. Side by side of Rob's trunnion with those of new owners is pretty dramatic. Ugly casts and equally ugly fit and finish. PSA is now doing some baloney "tiered" buyer program. Lots of anger, frustration, resentment from the AK crowd, all of which is think is totally fair and justified. PSA does ARs well, but its AK division seems to be lacking in a lot of ways. And these deceptive practices with regards to the AK kits were pretty low.

Your money, your choice, but my money only goes to proven imports. The AK is not an American gun.

No definitely not an NPAP.

Armslist and Gunbroker and CFF classifieds.

Took less than five minutes to find five "AK-esque" mag-fed 7.62x39 rifles (not including the N-PAP or Classic Hungarian builds) that are in stock and for sale at about $700 (s/h included).
You also have your Dracos and PAP M92s at or below that same price point with the brace included. Also, I'm seeing a bunch of NOS/unfired stuff on Gunbroker for decent prices. Even so, if the choice was quality used import AK vs. new American AK, my gun funds have gone and will continue to go to the former.

That said, OP can do whatever he pleases and I wish him happy shooting if he goes through PSA ... I just want to second IrishCannon's points that plenty of proven stuff is out there at or near the cost of a PSAK-47.

Thanks for the info, but the only reason I was considering the psa was the low price point on the build kits. 379.00 for receiver and 99.00 for trigger-hardware kit.....around 480.00 total, that's whats "cheap" ak and ar's price points poor people like I want....

Cheap doesn't mean good.

I'd rather have a "cheap" AR than a "cheap" AK.

If $100 is a huge deal to you, save your money and don't get the PSA AK. One dude running an AK for 5k rounds doesn't prove the rifle trustworthy.

But, it's your cash. Do what you want.

I think the reason these American made AKs are selling so well is because 90% of the people buying them barely ever get near 1000 rounds through them. The ones that do shoot enough to start experiencing failures just sell it off to the other 90% and get something better. When I decided to an AK that was going to be a keeper I forked out the money for a MAK90. They still aren't up in the Arsenal price range but still a good solid and proven AK.

I guess the thing for me is that I don't know an AK owner with just one AK. It's an addiction, and these things tend to multiply faster than a calculator. One of the most common traits of AK owners, besides owning multiple AKs, is that many took the time to learn about them only after they made their first purchase. You see a lot of these guys asking innocent/naive questions on the Files about why their shiny new American "AK-47" won't feed. These guys then take a big hit trying to sell that POS to fund a second, better AK. Maybe the PSAK-47 is okay. I just don't understand the risk of gambling on a maybe just to save $100 bucks. That bet might end up costing you $300+ when you have to sell your dud for a loss to feed your new addiction. And I'm a cheapskate, too!

I got lucky and bought a reliable as hell WASR-10 for my first AK. But I also did my homework beforehand.
