PX online for Veterans

Veterans can NOW order online from shopmyexchange.com; https://www.shopmyexchange.com/veterans here is the link to get the info on it.

It was a hassle to sign up but finally got it done. Apparently those of us who were in the service while Custer was at Little Big Horn aren't in some magical database.

Thanks for passing the info

My wife loves to get makeup there. Says it is cheaper. I have no idea.

Thanks for that catch.

Is this legit?
Tax free even though I only did 10 years?

Website looks scammish to me!
Just Google what ever you call your exchange, PX/BX/NMCX(What ever they call the Navy Marine Corp Exchange). Then go to the veteran link in their page.

So the reason why is because AAFES wants to compete with and outdo Amazon. They figure that there is a percentage out there that served and by offering this service they can capitalize on them. In other news, you can now also get a Veteran ID card to get your discounts at Lowe's and on Veteran's Day etc if you didn't retire or have a VA card due to a VA disability. http://www.veteranprograms.com/id1366.html

The Verify Vet thing said they found me, and I could shop there. So I went to the Navy Exchange and tried to create an account, and they said they couldn't find me. I need a DOD number, apparently, it won't take my SSN and there's nothing else like that on my DD-214.

In NC, you can take your DD-214 to the license place, and they can put "Veteran" on your DL. Then you don't need the extra card. Bass Pro in Cary gives 10% discount on most everything (not guns) every day and my DL is proof enough. Lowe's seems to be confused about whether they will give the discount or not; for a while they just said July 4, Veteran's, and Memorial Days. Lately, they've been taking it every time. And when I renewed my CHP, they didn't need to see my DD-214 because they said it was on my license.

Just Fyi on that card:

Note: The Veteran ID Card produced by USVCP is not an official State or Federal government ID card. The Veteran ID Card is produced and managed exclusively by USVCP and used by USVCP members primarily for programs and services sponsored by USVCP. Also, USVCP provides high-quality, effective, and efficient third party verification to confirm military service of all Veteran ID Cardholders. Our team of specialists use documentation from veterans to confirm and validate proof of military service. Our high-quality third party verification system acts as a buffer for the veteran and the general public. The Veteran ID Card is not to be used for official military business.

Question is, if the PX is online how is Jody going to meet your women folk now?

I registered for a Lowe's Card, not a credit card. They sent a bar code strip to attach to your credit or debit card and it automatically deducts the 10% discount. Usually get a "thank you for your service" comment from the cashier also. Lowe's is far more veteran-friendly in general than the Dump. Never had any issue whatsoever with Lowe's. HD lost ALL of my business last year after I checked with the manager in advance, loaded a carrier with lots of higher end plywood and then the cashier wouldn't honor the discount. After explaining the store manager verified it should apply and getting nowhere I said "Well, bless you heart" and walked out. Somebody had a s*%tload of plywood, nails, glue, etc. to restock. Have not been back since.

Because, while by law, they can't sell for less than 15% below local retail, they can charge anything they want above that point. I've never found anything in a CONUS PX that I couldn't get for the same or less in town & without the hassle of going on post. Then they started "taxing" our smokes. Where'd the money go? Didn't go for anything to help Joe out, you can bet on that.

If AAFES had to compete in the open market, they'd have gone out of business years ago.

The PX is a great deal & a lifesaver for Joes & their families OCONUS, but serves no useful purpose Stateside.

Good luck with that AAFES......

Wow, things have sure changed since I was active duty. PX butts were ninety cents a carton, bread and milk were five cents each and everything was dirt cheap. Gas was slightly cheaper offbase however. Of course, income was a whole lot less then too!

Commissary can be a good deal, but not so great a deal that it's worth the 2 hour drive down to Bragg & the hassle of getting on post.

Only PX(More of a shoppette) I use is the small one in Raleigh at the National Guard Center and that's just for deals on liquor when I'm in the area.
