just wondering about something,
Finally got around to taking ALL of the wood off my Garand in preparation to strip/clean and apply a full finish to said wood.

the rifle in question is a "CMP Special" grade IE new barrel and stock with the receiver and other bits refinished and rebuilt to as close to "new" as possible.
In the process of taking the handguards off I discovered that the "lower band roll pin" is missing from my example, so i wondered if anyone else had taken theirs down and discovered this part to be missing. I know that probably 75% or more of Garand owners will probably never take their rifle down far enough to find this out (ie most M1 owners i've met have never had the gas cylinder off the gun), but i figured i'd ask.

TIA

Nope. It is present in all of my CMP Garands, including 2 "specials and another that came with a replacement wood stock. Just send an email to CMP letting them know this was missing, and I'll wager they will send you one quickly and free of charge.

Yep, all five of mine have that pin...I've had my rifles all the way apart.
