Alright Ladies and Gents - this is a little different, but at any rate:

Does anyone have or know a place to procure a spare portable generator that can be used to run some medical equipment (heart monitor, oxygen supply, etc) for a premature infant that's out of the NICU but at home?

Basically, a guy I work with has his granddaughter at home, she's a premie and has some medical things she's working through to get strong enough to take care of, and he's been trying to find a generator for a bit to run some of the equipment she has. I don't have one to give him (spare or otherwise).

He has contacted the Red Cross but hasn't heard anything from them. He's local to Lincoln County and surrounding. Just not sure which direction to point him in this late in the game with a hurricane just a few days out.

Another idea is a power inverter plugged into a vehicle perhaps?

Inverters often put out a modified square wave, ok for motors and laptop chargers but not for direct fed electronics.
Where is your friend located? May help to locate a small 1KW Honda or equivalent.

Vehicle inverter to a computer uninterruptible power supply should do the trick, and both are easily purchased at Target, Staples or Walmart. The draw might be low enough that for $100 you’d be in business all night, and very quiet.
