Looking for plans for raised garden beds. I've been searching YouTube but also wanted to see what yall might know. Mrs. wants ones that are off the ground so she doesn't have to bend down.....I've see some thatbus e 3ft 4x4 posts for this.

They will get a lot hotter and dry out a lot faster... Plant and water wisely

Does she want above ground or counter height? I've got a bunch above the ground. Sounds like she want's counter height though. Keep in mind what you are planting will determine height too. No okra or tomatoes in tall beds unless you want to pick from a ladder.

I grow bush tomatoes in my grow bags and it works great. I also grow heirlooms and they work great too. No ladder required.

Consider making them out of cement instead if wood. There are some YouTube videos in it and plans online. Basically you make panels and use pieces of rebar to lock them together. Also consider putting drainage in the bottom and collecting the water. You’ll be watering them A LOT because the top will dry out but six inches down it will be wet.also consider putting in an irrigation system so that they get watered automatically or you’ll be spending a good amount of time watering.

Despite several downsides, they are handy in terms easier to use without getting down on the ground. It’s also pretty easy to rotate crops.

That's the one I saw.

They don't have to be too tall...just need to keep the dogs (weiner dogs) and rabbits out. We've even seen water or food troughs used as garden beds. The way wood prices are skyrocketing....the corrugated metal may be cheaper....

Built two of these on our back deck last season. Watered daily. Grew a crap ton of tomatoes and peppers in them. I used big spikes driven into the corner posts and thin elastic/bungee cord to train the tomatoes to grow around the border.

This was a good video I thought.

Ah and I forgot. Lettuce. Had the best success I'd ever had with lettuce in those boxes.

I grow them in raised beds too. But if we are talking counter height raised beds and 6’ plants, it’s going to get tough.

Another thing about raised beds, don’t just think you can dump soil in and grow. You need to look into building the soil. It makes a huge difference.

You are absolutely right! The soil is the key! I spent about 500.00 on organic soil and amendments, (mushroom compost, composted chicken manure, composted cow manure, perlite, organic fertilizer, etc... to make my soil mix like i wanted it.
I have used grow bags and I use some organic mulch as the bottom filler. It seems to me you can never over water these grow bags. They are great. I thought I t would take a couple of years to recoup my expenses. Boy was I wrong, The first year I paid for the soil and bags plus the landscaping for the area with the amount of vegetables produced. I was impressed ,I did not expect that kind of results. I have never had that success with row crops. And it has NEVER been so easy to maintain the garden. No weeding. Just water a little fun tending and occasional organic fertilizer of composted chicken manure. I use the time saved from hoeing , tilling, raking, pulling weeds, cussing at bugs and sweating - sitting in a chair in the garden and drinking beer.

Aint Miracle-Gro garden soil good??
