I have a 1995 tahoe.

First my front seats are gray leather. They both are in need of recovering. The kit to do then yourself seems to be around $500. That seems high to me. Is it better to find a local place to do it or would they charge more?

Second question. The plastic nut that secures the rear window wiper blade to the window has broken. I cant fir the life of me find it online or even what they call it. All the junk yard ones have also been broken. Some help would be great!

I need the front door windows old tint removed and new tint put on. Anyone got a guess on how much that would cost?

Having them recovered in leather will most likely cost you about a grand to $1500. That’s based on some prices I got a few years ago.

But if you want to go a nice looking and much cheaper route check out Okole wet custom seat covers.

As to the windshield wiper part if you have a Napa store near you that isn’t staffed by retards they might be able to find it for you.

If not go to the parts counter at a Chevy dealership. Just give them the vin number and tell them what part you’re looking for. Hard to find things like that will most likely have to be sourced at the dealership.

Use a glass scraper to remove the old tint then clean the glass before you take it somewhere. That little bit of work will save you a good bit of money. I had 4 doors and the rear glass tinted for about 250 at some place in gso. Pay more for the home service .

And take the "ta" off all the emblems.

I have had luck finding obscure parts for my daughter’s Xterra at RockAuto, maybe check there to see if you can find that wiper nut.

Another option for the seats (seat covers are a great idea, though) is to find newer model seats that may work with minimal fabrication to fit your Tahoe, then hit LKQ, etc for those

Another question.

I just replaced the upper control arms on this truck as the old bushings and ball joint were bad. Now she squeaks bad. I think I screwed up by tightening the upper control bolts down while the suspension was at max drop( lower control arm not supported). I will be putting new wheels and tires on this week. Should I let the weight of the truck sit on a jack stand under the lower control arm and loosen and the re tighten the upper bolts.

When I did the front end on my 66 the manual said to drop the car down on its wheels then tighten the bolts.

On most vehicles, you should always tighten, to OEM torque specs, any rubber/polyurethane mounted suspension components with the wheels on the ground.

You don't have to pay to remove the old tint. On a warm, sunny day you can spray the windows with ammonia. Then cover the inside with black trash bags and tape them in place to trap the heat and ammonia on the glass. That will release the glue (mostly) and let you scrape it off easier. You're still going to want a scraper with razor blades. Get it super clean before taking it to a pro for new tint.

A full side of leather runs around $250 shipped to me. So $500 for leather to recover 2 seats does not sound too bad to me. 2 seats is easily closing in on 2 sides. Getting them cut to the pattern
Is a huge bonus.

I can safely say this works. I had to take my FLA tint off when we moved up here. Used this method to save some $$$ from the tint store.

Another question.

I had rain guards on the windows. But they have been broken for some time. I have bought new ones. What is the best way to remove the old double sided tape? Heat gun?
