I just happened to pick up the Herald Citizen and saw an article about this. It says on July 22nd that there was an individual involved in what has been reported to be a fatal, self-inflicted gunshot. It occurred at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday July 22nd. It's really sad but this is what I worry about every time I go to the range. It's bad enough that someone does this to themselves but I'm not looking to be taken with them.

Wow, sad for the family.

This is exactly why I won't go to any indoor range. I don't know what the guy/girl next door has on their mind and I don't want to find out now...

I think he was referencing events like this:

Thanks, that's exactly what I was referencing. As Bailey Boat said who knows what going through their mind in the last few minutes before they decide to pull the trigger.

At the range I visit when I'm in Metro NJ, they won't rent a gun to any single guy,
you need a buddy with you unless you are a member, women can rent alone no problem.
All rental guns are sent into the range by an overhead transport system, unloaded and in
a locked case that the RSO opens for you and also checks the gun back in when you are done.

They had four suicides since they opened, one was a local politician.

It's a very sad thing. People tend to go to what I would consider to be "happy places to be" ,like the Blue Ridge Parkway and so on. I think they had one on the BRP today .

My friend killed himself and the guy standing behind him (pass through). It wasn't at a formal range, it happened in the badlands of SD. Nobody knows what's going on in another persons head at any given time. Bad stuff but it happens. Those of you on range better keep it in mind. I miss my friend but he did what he did and it was his stupid choice. He's missed a lot of good times because of it.

Suicide sucks. I've lost a few close to me to it, and until you've dealt with it, the grief is difficult to fathom. I walked in on one, and my heart goes out to those that have to clean up after gunshot suicides, especially if it family.

I dunno. Be good to people; you never know what hell somebody is living through.

Been there, done that. It SUCKS.

Happened at the indoor range Calibers in Greensboro. I’ve shot at the stall that it happened, which wigged me out a little bit.

My mother in law killed herself. Her oldest son found her. I don’t know the method used, but at least it wasn’t messy. Don’t know why either, but I suspect a bad cancer diagnosis.

Just another reason I LOVE my gun club (RCWA) Once I get into a pistol bay it's mine, no one else may enter without my permission. And I only allow trusted friends in to shoot with me.

@Miss Lily ..... I have "special" shirts that I wear only to the range, over sized to better conceal the soft armor underneath. It's rare that I'm not close enough to take control of the gun, or take it away from you if need be. It's good insurance as well as a deductible business expense.

I've seen my share of suicides from being a cop as well in the property management (apartment) industry for 35 years. Current number is in excess of 90. If you have a loved one choose this method, do not attempt to do a clean up. Contact Serve Pro and they have haz mat crews to deal with this type occurrence. In most cases home owners insurance will pay for the services. Do not put yourself at risk!!!
