Range Report: Taurus Spectrum

Ive been following this thread closely. I don't have a mouse gun, and been considering getting an LCP for that once in a while carry that my 442 is taking care of now. But for less than $150, this may fit that slot.

At the price point of some of these Taurus guns, it's worth it to get first hand experience. I ran the snot out of a G2c and it actually did very very well, but it was starting to show wear.

Presumably these little 380s wear out pretty quick compared to higher priced guns, but I suspect if you keep the round count low it will be fine. My LCP has 714 rounds through it and has broken twice, vs. my Kahr P380 which has 945 through it with no issues. The Taurus is probably more like the Ruger than the Kahr, but the best way to find out is to drop some cash on buying experience.

I've got too many pocket pistols already. No more for me unless it's something ubercool like a pre GCA PPK in .32. The Spectrum is kinda cool looking though and the price almost makes me want to buy one just for the hell of it.

Is there some Beretta DNA in this one? Is the grip frame the firearm or can it be swapped like the Pico?

If you want one you better get it. Taurus historically comes out with some cutting edge stuff and then Pooof..gone.

Yeah, my slim was flawless for the first 300 rounds or so, then it turned into an FTE machine.

I so want to trust a Taurus, they seem well made for their price point... but I will never trust a taurus

Man , I so what to trust these little Japanese cars like Honda and Toyota but for now I’ll only trust my Chevys and Dodges. I want something proven that I can almost get 100k out of before I start replacing trans and engine. If I car doesn’t have a CEL on after 40k miles is not worthy to drive:D

My G2 is my 9mm carry. Never have issues with it. It's been to the Battery as well. I didn't want to show off though so I kept it on the down low while I was there. Else everyone would want one and drive the prices up.

Sportsman’s Outdoor Superstore has these on sale for $129.99 and free shipping. They are collecting sales tax, though

We have a stack of them up in Elkin. I had never seen one, and didn't wanna like it, Taurus and all that.... but when I picked it up and messed with it a little bit, I had a hard time not liking it.

I appreciate these threads. It helps me when people ask about some of these obscure guns I have never shot (Spectrum, SCCY, etc) On another note, as Jayne mentioned up there, I have had several folks come through CCW class with the Taurus G2C and they shoot really well.

No, the internals can't be removed that way. I own the Spectrum, Pico and a Nano.

Ok, because of this thread I went out and picked up a Spectrum in the Black/Gray color. Got it on “special” at my local dealer for $115 plus tax! For that price, I couldn’t turn it down. If I have good luck like you guys, it will be an even better deal!
