This is, most likely, the product of Burger King Parenting (hereafter known as BKP).
Skylar, perfect little ray of sunshine that he is, was probably raised believing that it was both owed to him and he deserved to have it his way, right away....BKP.
From infancy to now, it's likely he's never been told, "No". Why should he be? He's perfect in every way. Wanna Happy Meal every day? Absolutely...we'll get it for you. Want a pony for your 7th birthday? Sure thing....your wish is our command. Want the latest iPhone to replace the one we bought; the one you pitched a fit for 6 months ago? Done...you deserve it. You say 10/2 = 4? Well, you are 100% correct if that is the answer you got.
BKP
Problem is, BKP has led us to what we have now....a buncha little tyrants running around who've made it their life's mission to control and eradicate speech, lifestyles, behaviors or practices with which they don't agree...
"You own guns?!!! Well, I don't like that and you must change it because I don't believe you should...because I don't."
"You use tobacco?!!! That's hideous. I don't smoke, chew or dip and you shouldn't be able to either....because I don't."
The only solution to deal with this mindset, brought on by BKP, is to deliver the soul-crushing, 'strain is more than I can bear" message of "No".
"No, it ain't for you to decide, Skylar the snowflake. You make your own choices and I'll make mine, but be damned if you get to decide for me because it's what you want or what makes you happy."
Be warned...Skylar and those like him will not handle this well; at all. Look for bulging eyes, jugular vein distension, diaphoresis or other signs that may lead you to believe they are experiencing some sorta acute condition that necessitates the need for immediate medical attention. Rest assured, though, their health is not in danger. They are simply having a reaction....a reaction to "No". No one has ever dared defy their wishes, inform them they are wrong and yes, tell them that, "This ain't Burger King dip***t; it's reality and the reality is that you do not get to have it your way, right away."
