I have 2 builds I'm working on, and getting detailed build lists to buy as I find deals.

First one is a 20" 308 built as a multi purpose gun. Partially a hunting rig, a precision gun, and a plinker. Other details will be suppressor, mid power optic (2-10, 3-15 or the like).

Second gun is more of a fun gun, HD, and a teaching gun. SBR 300 BO, will also be suppressed. Built more for the wife, she has shot some of my other ARs that have mil-spec triggers and said they were heavier for her.

These are going to be forever guns. Have no reason to want to sell these guns. With that said, I have no problem spending a bit more, as long as it is a worthwhile upgrade.

There is something to be said for having them the same, but mission drives the gear so nothing wrong with different. Just want a crisp, lighter trigger (2+ lbs preferred, would like to be around the 3.5lb range).

What do you think?

Those CMC flat or curved drop in triggers are really nice and have a 3.5lb pull to them. I really enjoy shooting the 3.5 CMC flat trigger. You can find some nice sales on them every so often as well. I think the last one I got was around $120.00.

First one is a lot of personal taste and budget ... Geissele, Jard, etc ... there I’d see if I could try a few before the investment level I’d expect.

For the second, especially the HD part, I’d go with a little more weight like say an ALG ACT , Bravo PNT or Spikes Battle Trigger. Those 3 are 5-6 lb pulls that have been smoothed out and some form of nickel treatment for even better feel. Under circumstances of a range lane, especially HD, a 5-6 lb trigger is plenty light and with the smooth feel and crisp break of those 3 I think you’d have a good overall feel. They run from $50-$75 depending on where you buy and if you catch a sale. Primary right now has the Spikes on sale for under $50 ... $46.99

Along with ALG (which is a sister company to Geissele) $69.99

Bravo $65.95

Now there is a member also selling 2 LaRue triggers which are very nice and he has them priced RIGHT at $99 each. They would be more towards the higher end triggers t me but at a bargain price ... check the classifieds to see if they’re still there.

Your near me, I've a Geissele SSA-E in my 300SBR (avatar), a Geissele Hi-Speed NM in a 6.5G, and a CMC flat bow in a 300BLK pistol you can check out.
If the laws had stabilized about stabilizers, I would have built a pistol and not an SBR for the $200 savings, conceal carry, state parks, state lines, etc.

There is going to be a pistol after the SBR, more for legalities and all. It will be built to exact specs, other than the stock, for ease of transition for the wife.

I may have to take you up on that! I've played with a few nicer triggers but I think they were polished milspec groups with the JP yellow springs, so not a true nicer trigger group.

I bought the Spikes trigger, just now with some other build parts, and found a deal on a Rise trigger. If I don't like one, I have no problem switching them out back and forth or into another build planned. Then go to another option for that particular gun, be it the ALG or the SSAE/Jard/JP/etc.

The 300 has everything but the stock (and stamp) the koting, barrel and gas tube and block now. Dang, I forgot to get a trigger guard, but I do have some time on that.

308 is the same, need barrel and bold, gas block and tube. Can as well, but that's still in jail.

2 builds are hard to keep up with and get expensive quick!

You can get the LaRue MBT triggers for $99 off their website too, as long as you don't mind waiting for a bit while they make it. I think mine took a couple of weeks to come in, that's all.
They also come with a 4.5 and a 6 lb spring now.

I am becoming a big fan of the Hiperfire 3g.
Shorter travel, crisper break, lighter pull, stronger hammer force, shorter reset than any of the geissele. Can find some deals on them too, as they have revamped their nomenclature on new models and old models can be had pretty cheap. Although they need an experienced trigger finger.
If I had to outfit a gun for a newer shooter I’d do Geissele 2 stage. Maybe G2 or whatever is cheapest one. Or ALG if on a budget.

RISE Armament RA-434 is $135 right now at Granite Ridge Outfitters with the coupon. Doubt you can do better than that for that amount.

3.5lb nickel coated drop in with set screws, billet aluminum body. The older RA140 got rave reviews for a budget drop it. I just bought one for my .308 so I'll let you know how I like it.

I looked hard at the ELFtmann SE, the CMC 3.5, etc

Here's an older 2016 trigger round up where they measured triggers with a specialized tool.
But the ELF triggers has some longevity issues I have read about the reset, so pass.

Otherwise, for under $50 you can do a PSA EPT NIB coated milspec trigger and JP enhanced reliability kit and that will give you a great safe minimum milspec weight trigger. That's what I have on the rest of my guns and they've never failed to work.
