Searching for a decent lower profile weapon light to use with an offset M-LOK mount on my PSA AK-V. Would like to spend around $100 - max would be $150. This light is intended primarily for home defense and an indoor setting. What are some good options/recommendations here for a smaller yet bright and durable light for PCC use?

@Derek8404 - I remember you mentioning you purchased an Inforce WML for your AK-V. How has it worked for you? Do you have a photo of your setup? I like the shape and size of the WML, but the 400 lumen output and rather weak battery life (1.5 hours) for the price don't seem that impressive. Granted, this is an HD gun so it won't be used very much, but still. Also, how's the throw on the light?

Thanks for your input, folks!

I have an Inforce I use on my HK 45c. For me it was simple to practice with and learn quickly. Then I haven’t used any other lights so my opinion may suck. :p

Don't get hung up on run time on a weapon mounted light. You aren't likely to be using it constantly for over an hour. Light discipline would have you toggling it on and off if you were fighting. And using a gun muzzle as a searchlight is probably not the best idea.

Low lumen light is okay indoors. Light can splash back and blind you... probably not something you want to happen while searching or fighting.

I've got an inforce mounted on an M1 carbine. It works ok. Once I get a chance to quality check my latest pcc build the light is probably going to move over to it.

I am usually a more is better guy until I started playing around with different lights in the dark. That 1,000 lumen light wasn’t so good in house.

I actually bought a WML and a WML-X to try out. Wasn’t sure which one I would like better, and Amazon has such a generous return policy, I got both to try out. Mounted them on an Magpul MLOK offset mount and both get ok, ergonomics wise. The WML-x was slightly better since it was a little brighter but I ended up sending them both back as the regular WML wouldn’t turn on regularly and both of them just felt very cheap I don’t trust them at all. Those were my 2nd, third and last Inforce products I will ever own. I don’t think the quality is there and I would never put them on a HD duty gun.

so for now I have a SureFire X300 mounted on the same offset rail and I just use my support hand to hit the toggles; works just fine.

So this thread just made think about that Magpul offset mount I have and I remembered that it is a scout light mount so I mounted this light on it now. Streamlight pro tac, works great.

I like the Protac 1L in a Thorntail for an SBR, PDW... I like TLR-1 lights. They are bulletproof and the warranty and QC is great. They are bulky though. Love the TLR-6 too but it's not easily removed and pistol specific.

I find myself more and more interested in the Olights. The charging system is cool and they seem quite well made... Lots of sizes and brightness levels available too...

Thanks, everyone. I have Streamlights on a handgun and an AK rifle and really like them both. Going to order another one for this, along with a Zenitco Klesh. Based on past Russian gun parts orders, the latter will probably arrive sometime in 2021. That should give me enough time to get acquainted with this Streamlight setup and see if I like it.

I appreciate all the input - cheers.

Amazon warehouse is notorious for having a lot of fakes. Lights are one of the few things you can't chance with them.

True, I did make sure to orderthem through a reputable vendor though, and I’ve owned another Inforce APLc before. My experience with Inforce lights is that they are junk. The WML-X didn’t have any serious issues, just felt cheap and the output was less than impressive for a light that size.

I've owned original Surefire milspec lights M962s et al, Streamlight TLRs, etc.

None of those impress me as much as the Olight PL-2 Valkyrie and the miniature version.
If I were in the market that's where my money would be going. They're incredible esp for the money.

I'm on the Olight bandwagon.
Got 2 in the house now, the Valkyrie pl-pro with pressure switch is perfect for indoor-outdoor and the Warrior X Pro 2250 is just beyond insane in the field.

Went with a (backordered) Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount 1 right after my last post. Finally received it and mounted it tonight. I have a Rail Mount 2 on an AK rifle, but this single-battery unit offers solid light for dark rooms and hallways and the smaller size fits the AK-V nicely. Easy on/off with my left thumb, so I'll save the tail switch for another application.

Holding off on the Klesh for now, since my last order from Russia took three months to get here due to COVID-19 shipping issues. Just not worth a $200+ gamble right now.

Thanks again for the suggestions, everyone! Very happy with the result:
