So a buddy took me to one of his new friends apartment tonight. Hung out playing cards and listening to music on a record player. This Brought back Memories. When I was a kid in the late 70s most of our nights at home were filled with listening to music on a record player, playing board games. My mother and father had a pretty extensive collection of music, both liking a wide variety of music.

It just sounded so good tonight. I think I enjoyed the Records more than the card game!

So anyone still have a Vinyl collection? If so what modern record player do you use? Not that I need another thing to collect, but I think I might wanna start buying records LOL

I have my vinyl collection plus Mom's and Dad's classical collection. A lot of vinyl! A friend wants me to sell mine, but why? They still work just fine!

Edited to add: I still have our old Technics turntable, so modern? Nope. No idea.

I have untold thousands. They've been piled up in garages for decades and who knows whether they're destroyed by now. :(

I have a collection, but it's mostly modern bands.
I do have some odds and ends from further back. Pink Floyd sounds incredible on vinyl with old wood cabinet speakers.

Vinyl is undergoing a rebirth of sorts. I've even seen record players and modern vinyl releases in Walmart. All things old are new again.

I have about 30 albums, my wife about the same amount. My circa 1977 Pioneer SX-750 receiver and the Technics SL-220 turntable with Bose 201's.

I have about 30 albums from the early 1970's to the mid-80's, and a turntable that still works, but I almost never play them anymore. I don't have anything rare or really classic.

Yes, loads.

Multiple turntables, but I really only use one - an early 80s era Pioneer 512 ( think that's the number )
I chose it because it's of the era of my parent's stereo when I was a kid
So I built a system like what they had, but with modern Pioneer speakers

As for records, I'd say a thousand, give or take a hundred either direction

Lots of modern punk rock, metal, hardcore
But also a ton of old country, oldies, 80s pop, classic rock etc
Some hip hop, some modern pop, but not too much of these.
Some random things like battle songs of WW2 or the Red Army Choir and such

I have a couple hundred, new & old stuff. My turntable is a vintage Rotel with a few nice upgrades. I actually bought it from MuzzerFuzzer. That guy has a seriously righteous audio setup.

Yes, still listen to vinyl and will stop at a garage/yard sale if it looks like they might have vinyl records. Enjoy them with a Pioneer SX-1000TD tuner amplifier, and a Dual 1019 turntable (inherited from my father).

I think I’m gonna build one out like my parent s had also. Lots of happy nostalgia :)

I honestly thought maybe one person would respond to this post LOL I’m happily surprised that so many still enjoy the records!

I inherited a decent collection of Jazz records when my mother passed but I don’t have a way to play them yet. Like you, most of my nights growing up including having records playing in the background.

I've got the SX-650 with a pair of large Advent speakers, forgot what model the turntable is without looking.

None of the stuff is all in the same room at this time, I may hook it all up this weekend, this thread has me inspired.

I have a marantz 2226 that has started to pop every now and again. It's a pretty piece of equipmwnt and the sound is excellent. I thinknits just a capacitor or something at the power stage. Wonder if it's jard to find people to fix these things.

The pack rats (I think it's the stores at Woody's campground) next to Freebornes in Laurel Springs has thousands of albums you can sift thru.

If nothing else grab a burger.

I have a Victrola from the 1920 that gets listened to a good bit, specially around Christmas. I have an old Ebeneezer Scrooge record set. It’s a little scratchy but fun to listen to.

Anyone know if direct drive or belt drive is better in modern turntables?
