Refinishing an AK, Parkerize / Cerakote?

I’m looking for any wisdom or recommendations on coating an AK. It’s down to it’s naked beauty and I need something to keep the elements off of it for awhile and make it look presentable.

I can respect that. Scrubbed it down, oil it up, wipe it off.

Looks great now. Dunk it in used motor oil, sling it once or twice to remove the excess, rub it down with an empty potato sack, choot it!

Rub some butter on it and put it in the oven..... like seasoning a cast iron pan.

We have a member here who does cerakote ( @Magdump ). He can hook you up. Cerakoted one of my AK's and it turned out great.

I cerakoted mine by Ben in Lexington. I did mine in Sig Gray

I know nothing about anything firearm-ish, but our dings and scars and rough surfaces give us character, so let its character show! It looks good....

AK's are not aluminum like the AR. Rust is bad.

Clayton Guns in Johnson County NC does an excellent job with Cerakote and they are very reasonable if you choose that route. I had a Beretta A400 Cerakoted except for the barrel
and it has held up very well. Heck, try it yourself using an air dry product. Clean off an old shovel and experiment or use the hood on the wife's car. What's the worst that could happen?
