So while dorking around with that signet ring in the other thread, I busted the screw off in the pivot bushing on one of my Spyderco knives. Spyderco won't sell me a replacement nor will they tell me the spec for it so I could try to find it somewhere.

I've emailed a few knife parts places, but no luck yet. Anyone know where to get parts for Spyderco and/or the size of this pivot bushing set?

This might work. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spyderco-D...h=item260c402a7a:g:xowAAOSw-GNcBrLt:rk:1:pf:0

And as much as I love my Spyderco knives I hate their repair and warranty departments. Benchmade, KAI/Kershaw, Cold Steel and others have been really helpful in sourcing spare parts for their products and Spyderco has always been a royal pain!

I saw those, $30 + international postage... and they're blue. But titanium! :)

Yea, the repair thing sucks. I've been carrying spyderco for... well as long as I've been able to carry a knife. Dealing with them over such a simple issue though makes me never want to buy another of their knives again. I'm not even asking for a freebie or warranty thing, I admit I screwed up so just sell me the damn parts. If one mistake = throw the knife away, I'll never be a customer again and will be happy to tell them that.

Can you return the entire knife to Spyderco and let them repair it?

The primary reasons for not supplying parts is that our models are constantly changing. We call it CQI or Constant Quality Improvement. We don't know what part will fit your knife.

I gotta say that makes a lot of sense. Doesn't lead to happy customers though, so a change may be wise.

There's only 3 or 4 sizes of pivot pins, 5/32, 3/16, 1/4 and 5/16. Then it could be round or "D" shaped on the shank. Let me know which size and length you have, I may have one in my parts box...

A lot of independent dealers nationwide quit carrying Spyderco in the last two years. Spyderco left them high and dry with higher end knives when they discontinued and clearanced models like the titanium Native, Slysz Bowie, Nirvana and others while the big online sellers like Blade HQ & Knife Center purchased and sold those models after the clearance was announced at prices cheaper than the independent dealers paid for their stock wholesale.

Great knives and designs but the business side of the company leaves a lot to be desired.

The shaft itself is 0.280" long and D shaped. it's 0.155" in diameter, and 0.138" when measured across the flat spot. So 5/32? I'm trying to google that to see if it's a match.

I may have found a way out. Some aftermarket grip, er scale, makers use their own parts, throwing away everything but the blade and the locking clip. i could take the blade (that has the features I want), get it coated a color I want, and then aftermarket the entire rest of the knife. The kit I'm looking for evern has a spares kit available!

So perhaps this isn't a failure, it's a subtle way for the universe to tell me "hey, you need a semi-custom EDC knife".
