DAMN,,, it's high.our roof is 20 years old this year and it's time to replace it, The storm blew some shingles off but the repair is 2600 and our deductible is 2500. So instead of making a claim we are just having the entire roof replaced. Anyone have some money I can borrow. I'm looking a 30 loan with -4 interest

My only family is one brother. I cold give him every cent I have and it would be safe. Our problem has been with hanger ons. PLEASE, look into a metal roof. We went all metal on all buildings. Never regretted it.

All bs aside if your weren’t so far away I know my FIL could put a metal roof on there for around that much maybe a tick more and be done in a day

Gonna elaborate a little,, I have a SIL that has owed us multiple thousands of dollars for about 10 years. Thankfully she can always have a new car and the newest phone every couple years. She has asked for money again over the years but I told her she would starve before I gave her another dime. It would be different if I knew she was struggling,,she has money to travel every couple of months. She just can find the money for light bills and gas.

Right now we are looking at 11.5 k. Our plan is to only be here about 5-7 more years. Don't really want to spend that, lol

That's a lot of guns and ammo

I used to loan folks money. It tends to make them disappear?????
Does that actually work? More or less how much do I need to loan each person to make them disappear? ;)

Where does your FIL live?
I'd like to have a metal roof.

How do you work on a metal roof without denting the corrugation or sliding off?

Once it’s on and fastened, it’s decidely strong. Even a 4’ span takes some effort to damage. Building a metal building now. With that span. I’m 225 and haven’t fallen through. But at the same time, I’m still careful to not be between two girders...

Soft soled shoes. Sneakers, hiking boots, etc. Dry day,it’s nearly perfect traction.

Add some moisture though... buh bye:eek:

I have a metal roof on the shop but have never been on top of it. It's pitched way too steep. Had to fix a piece on the ridge vent, so we tied a rope around my buddy and pulled him up to it from the other side.

I'm assuming you can put metal roof over plywood decking without issue, right?

Replaced mine almost two years ago. Waited 8 months on a guy I know who would hand tack the shingles. Insurance would not even repair the section damaged by high wind. Sent a guy from Charlotte to write a 21 page report so they could say it was put down with a nail gun and that caused the shingles to come off because it drove them thru the material. It was on for 20 plus years. How did this not happen earlier if that is the case. I was pissed.

I paid $11,000 for shingles. Took a week for 4 guys to hand drive every nail. This roof is very steep. No way I will even get on it. Metal is fine. I personally will never have one unless it is a standing seam roof. By the way the metal will last forever but those screw holes will not. Neoprene washers rot.

You might try to wait until demand is down a little, I expect roofers are charging twice what they were a couple months ago. Of course if we get the wall built the prices will double or triple again, so you want it done before that.

All the roofers I've met were hard drinking white guys; work a week, spend a week drinking the paycheck.

I roofed our cabana and it majorly sucked.

got new shingles a month ago. found out there's no such thing as 20-year shingles. all 40-year now.
hope i'm around to replace them again. AND i got the NEW 2-part Shingles Shot. don't want them.
