I got a hankering for a new, Marlin Model 795, mainly because it has the LSHO. I had a beautiful 1969 Model 70. I gathered information about adding the LSHO to the model 70, and decided that was not the way I wanted to go. Academy Sports had the Model 795, at a reasonable price, so I bought one. But, I didn't like the plastic stock.

The first mod I did, was to remove the magazine safety. I didn't disable it, I removed it. Then stoned the sear and hammer for a 2.5 lb. trigger pull. I loved this little rifle, but the stock still offended me.. I remembered that I had a Model 60 stock, that was like new. I decided to remove a little wood and do a little inletting. Next are a few pictures of the 795, wearing the modded Model 60 stock. Pardon my crappy wood work. And the scars that were not there before.

The last pic shows the new scars I added. Talked a bit ugly, I did. I'll do a little final sanding to smooth up the wood work.

That black plastic can be offensive, can't it Mr Powell? Mine is marginally less so because it's stainless, but I love it.

Allen, I found it so. I might even be inclined to look at the DIP bottom metal, to replace the trigger guard, and trigger? If they had a stainless one, I would have gotten it. The older I get, I like shiny things.
